Multiple Application and Multiple Monitor User Interface Image Format Selection System for Medical and Other Applications

A screen sharing function enables a main executable application, which typically uses more than one monitor, to switch to single-monitor usage as necessary to allow a user to directly interact with other applications that the main executable application invokes. A system including multiple display monitors for displaying multiple user interface image windows associated with corresponding multiple executable applications employs an image format determination system. The image format determination system includes an input processor for receiving command data representing a command to initiate execution of a function of a second application and display of an associated second image window in response to user entry of a command via a first image window associated with a first application. An image format selection processor, in response to the received command data, automatically initiates reduction in size of the first image window to fit a screen of the multiple display monitors and to prevent mutual overlap of the reduced size first image window and the second image window. A display processor initiates generation of data representing the reduced size first image window and the second image window, for presentation on the multiple display monitors.

Communications Device for Intelligently Routing Information Among Multiple User Interfaces

A near field communications (NFC) device is disclosed that intelligently routes NFC data from a NFC device between multiple user interfaces based upon a power level of its internal batteries. The communications device utilizes a communications device user interface to send and / or receive the NFC data from the NFC device when its internal batteries are sufficient to operate the communications device user interface. The communications device begins to route some of this NFC data from being sent and / or received by the communications device user interface to a NFC user interface as its internal batteries deplete. Eventually, all of the NFC data will be sent to and / or received by the NFC user interface as the internal batteries of the communications device become so depleted that they are unable to reliably operate the communications device user interface.

Apparatus and method for a multiple-user interface to interactive information displays

This invention relates to the untethered multiple user interaction of large information displays using laser pointers coordinated with voice commands. A projection system projects application windows onto a large information display. One or more users may command their respective window applications using laser pointers and / or voice commands. A registration program assigns a unique identification to each user that associates a particular users's voice and a particular laser pointer pattern chosen by that user, with that particular user. Cameras scan the information display and process the composite of the application windows and any laser pointer images thereon. A sequence of computer decisions checks each laser pointer command so as to correctly associate respective users with their commands and application windows. Users may speak voice commands. The system will then perform speech recognition of the user's voice command. If the command is recognized, the system performs the speech-recognized command as a window operation.
