68 results about "Assault rifle" patented technology

An assault rifle is a selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. Assault rifles were first used during World War II. Though Western nations were slow to accept the assault rifle concept, by the end of the 20th century they had become the standard weapon in most of the world's armies, replacing full-powered rifles and sub-machine guns in most roles. Examples include the StG 44, AK-47 and the M16 rifle.

Folding stock adaptor for military-style assault rifles and a method for its use

The present folding stock adapter can be used with many types of military-type assault rifles that typically comprise a receiver extension, buffer and action spring. The present folding stock adapter can be used to add a folding capability to a standard stock allowing it to fold against a rifle's receiver when the weapon is not in use, thus reducing the overall length of the weapon. This reduction in length can facilitate its maneuverability, storage and transport in cramped quarters. The present device can also allow for the quick unfolding of the stock in order to allow the weapon to function and be fired normally.

Firearm bolt locking mechanism

A firearm bolt locking mechanism includes a locking pin in the bolt carrier of a firearm like an AK-47 assault rifle or variant thereof. The locking pin is normally urged from the bolt carrier by a compressed spring. The mechanism also includes a pivot arm mounted on the receiver cover of the firearm. The pivot arm has a spring-biased finger that normally fills a hole in the receiver cover. The mechanism further includes a magazine that stops the bolt of the firearm when the last cartridge from the magazine is fired and permits the spring to drive the locking pin into the hole. After replacing the empty magazine with a full one, the pivot arm is pressed to replace the locking pin in the hole with the finger and to release the bolt carrier to chamber a cartridge.

Bullet deflection, fighting position body armor

Bullet Deflection, Fighting Position Body Armor incorporates a novel bullet defeat mechanism approach different than conventional armor's objective of stopping bullets. Many rifle bullets that are used for military assault rifles are designed to turn or tumble on contact allowing maximum energy to be imparted on the target in minimal penetration distance. Exploiting this bullet / rifle design, deflecting bullets becomes a new attractive solution rather than stopping bullets because significantly less weight required to deflect an "unstable" bullet. Fighting position body armor can be mounted on the user's arms, shoulders and helmet. These locations are not normally protected by conventional body armor thereby providing significant protection when the soldier is in firing / fighting positions. Designs can be made to integrate the Bullet Deflection, Fighting Position Body Armor areas of protection with conventional body armors to optimize weight and areas protected.

Assault rifle back-up sight rib and support structure

Back-up sights for use on a rifle configured with an optical sight aligned along a first sighting axis include a handguard or support carrying first and second attachment points that are substantially parallel with the central axis of the rifle's barrel but offset at a different angle than the first sighting axis. A back-up front sight and rear sight are carried on a back-up sight base, where the front sight and rear sight are aligned along a second sight axis that is offset, preferably, by one-eighth turn from the first sighting axis. When using the back-up sights, the user tilts or cants the rifle to one side, rotating the rifle one-eighth turn about the axis of the barrel's bore, to look down the second sighting axis, while aiming the rifle at the target.

Recoil mitigation and buttstock floating system, method, and apparatus

A buffer tube for firearms, including assault rifles, carbines, shotguns, and other rifles is disclosed. The floating buffer tube comprises a recoil mitigation mechanism, including a helical spring or an elastic or viscous energy absorption device, and a buttstock mounting bracket mounted outside the buffer tube. The buttstock mounting bracket can rotate relative to the buffer tube, which changes the axial angle of the buttstock relative to the firearm. The angle can be locked under an expansive force by forcing a bolt or pin into grooves to select the proper axial angle of the buttstock relative to the firearm in the field without the user having to disarm himself to perform the angle change.

Systems and methods for carrying a weapon

Systems and methods for carrying a weapon are described herein. While such systems and methods can include any suitable component, in some cases, they include a shoulder strap that is configured to attach at a shoulder portion of an upper torso garment. In some cases, the shoulder strap includes an attachment mechanism that is configured to attach the shoulder strap to the shoulder portion of the upper torso garment. In some cases, a weapon attachment, such as a D-ring and / or a lanyard is attached to the shoulder strap so as to be disposed on an anterior portion of the shoulder strap when the shoulder strap is worn by a user. In some cases, the shoulder strap is configured to retain a weapon (such as an assault rifle) in a state of near readiness. Other implementations are described.

Breach lock

The breach lock is for use in securing open the breach of an assault rifle during cleaning of the bolt action and the breach between uses of the assault rifle. The breach lock includes a notch along a top of the breach lock and a hole along the breach lock, which define a length. The breach lock is inserted between the upper receiver assembly and the lower receiver assembly so as to prevent any rotation there between. The notch bolts to the upper receiver assembly whereas the hole employs the pin of the assault rifle to engage the lower receiver assembly. The breach lock is simple in installation and removal with use of an assault rifle, and prevents unwanted collapse between the upper and lower receiver assemblies, which would otherwise pinch or injure the hand and fingers of an end user when cleaning.

Dummy assault rifle

Converting a functioning assault rifle to an inoperative dummy gun suitable for collectors by replacing the receiver with a receiver filled with a solid material. The filled spaces of the receiver prevent the cooperative operation with the other components of the gun. The dummy receiver is externally indistinguishable from the functioning receiver. Thus, a model rifle is converted for collectors so as to be unrecognizable from the functioning gun. To accommodate the filled spaces in the receiver, the lower part of the cooperating bolt carrier is milled off. The dummy receiver may include an affixed rear sight base.

Method of monitoring weapons using a GPS device that is strapped onto the weapon

A method for tracking extremely dangerous weapons, such as assault rifles, is described. This method comprises of a GPS device which is strapped onto the weapon, such as the assault rifle's neck. The position of the GPS, along with the location of the weapon is constantly monitored. If the position of the GPS and weapon is near a school, an alarm signal is sent to a Global Position Processing Center. The Center then immediately contact and inform the school and the local police department about the position of the weapon by its GPS positional signal. If the GPS is disabled, an alarm signal is sent to the Center. The Center then investigates the reason for its disablement. If the disablement of the GPS is illegal, then the Center will contact the local police for further investigation of the weapon. In this way, dangerous weapons, such as assault rifles, are kept track of and schools are alerted when such weapons come within its safety perimeter. By this method, law enforcement agencies can pursue missing weapons and account for all dangerous weapons and their locations.

Holster for assault rifle

A holster is disclosed specially adapted for an assault weapon, the assault weapon having a pistol grip and a magwell. The holster comprises two separate brackets, an upper bracket and a lower bracket, where both the upper and lower holster brackets are adapted to be supported by a tactical vest with MOLLE webbing. The upper holster bracket has two terminal ends including two wings on the two terminal ends formed in a partial retrograde fashion to fold away from and oppose each other. The two wings can be manually spread apart in order to accept and surround the pistol grip of an assault weapon. The upper holster bracket is formed to surround the pistol grip of the assault weapon, and wherein the two wings rebound to their initial shape after providing a secure interference fit with the pistol grip of the assault weapon. A lower holster bracket in an approximate “U” shape is adapted to engage and support the magwell of an assault weapon and attaches to lower MOLLE webbing of the tactical vest.
