An apparatus for measuring the weight of items on a conveyor includes a scale that generates a first signal corresponding to the weight of the items. A movable platform transports the items to the scale and generates a second signal corresponding to position of the items in relation to the scale. A dimensioner examines the items and generates a third signal representative of whether the items are singulated or nonsingulated. A processor receives the second and third signals and determines whether to associate the first signal with information stored in memory about a particular item based upon whether the particular item is singulated or nonsingulated.

A method of determining a volume of fluid associated with a fluid storage and dispensing system, the volume of fluid having a height in the system, wherein the system include measurement apparatus for measuring the height. The method includes collecting a plurality of height measurement data from the measurement apparatus in a form readable by a computer; storing the plurality of height measurement data in a compressed matrix format in a computer memory; and performing regression analysis using the compressed matrix format to calculate the volume of fluid associated with the system.

The present invention relates a method to estimate representative elementary volume (REV) in a sample of porous media wherein the sub-volume selected is a better approximation of the elementary volume than existing methods. REV in a sample of porous media such as rock can be defined wherein the REV is selected with respect to the expected direction of fluid flow through the porous media. The method can quantify how good is the digital representation of a rock and how accurate a description of a fluid flow through Darcy's law will be, and allows the evaluation of different length scales in different directions for the REV and an assessment of the anisotropy of the pores structures when the method is applied in different directions. The method also can determine a robust criteria to understand when a trend of porosity-permeability breaks down due to an insufficient size of the subsample.

Four distance sensors are employed, one downwardly facing the top of the object, one facing one side thereof and two respectively facing mutually parallel sides of the object perpendicular to the one side. The method includes acquiring a seismic exploration volume for a subsurface region of interest, and determining a modeling geometry for the seismic exploration volume. The method includes utilizing the stable wavefield to generate subsurface images of the subsurface region of interest.
