anode, - a first switching device, - a second switching device, - a
control unit, and - an emitter with a plurality of
field effect emitter needles, wherein at least one of the plurality of
field effect emitter needles has a
diameter of less than 1 pm and is made of
silicon, wherein a first group of the plurality of field effect emitter needles can be switched on or off by means of the first switching device, wherein a second group of the plurality of field effect emitter needles can be switched on or off by means of the second switching device, wherein the first group is different from the second group, and wherein the
control unit is configured to control the first switching device and the second switching device.
