Abstract

A method of producing dimethyl sulfoxide is disclosed. The method includes bringing liquid raw materials containing dimethyl sulfide, an oxidant and an optional solvent into contact with a titanium silicalite molecular sieve to obtain a liquid mixture containing dimethyl sulfoxide, subjecting the liquid mixture to gas liquid separation to obtain a liquid stream containing the dimethyl sulfoxide and a gas stream, and separating the dimethyl sulfoxide from the liquid stream. The method can achieve high selectivity of a target oxidation product and a high effective utilization rate of the oxidant. The method is particularly suitable for an occasion adopting hydrogen peroxide provided in a form of an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution as a catalyst, controls the mole ratio of the dimethyl sulfoxide to the hydrogen peroxide to be not less than 1, allows most of the hydrogen peroxide to be converted, and conveniently recovers and reuses unreacted dimethyl sulfoxide, thus effectively increasing the utilization rate of the hydrogen peroxide, and avoiding cost increases caused by incapability of recovering hydrogen peroxide or treatment of excessive hydrogen peroxide.
