35 results about "Reed–Muller code" patented technology

Reed–Muller codes are error-correcting codes that are used in wireless communications applications, particularly in deep-space communication. Moreover, the proposed 5G standard relies on the closely related polar codes for error correction in the control channel. Due to their favorable theoretical and mathematical properties, Reed–Muller codes have also been extensively studied in theoretical computer science.

Unequal error protection Reed-Muller code generator and decoder

An unequal error protection Reed-Muller code and method for designing a generator matrix and decoder. A conventional RM code is concatenated with the combination of itself and a subcode of itself. The new generator matrix is decomposed to include empty submatrices. The resulting generator matrix allows parallel decoding of separate portions of the received code word vectors.

System and method for iterative decoding of Reed-Muller codes

A system for soft-decoding of Reed-Muller coded information has one or more rows of decoding blocks, each decoding block having a soft-output device and a Reed-Muller message passing device. A first soft-output device of a first decoding block processes a coded signal and a zero value probability vector. Each subsequent soft-output device processes the coded information and a non-zero value probability vector. The system for soft-decoding Reed-Muller coded information decodes a code-bit reliability vector from a soft-output device to generate an updated codeword reliability vector, which is used by a next decoding block in a sequence of decoding blocks to reprocess the coded information using the updated reliability vector. The reliability vector is updated through processing in each decoding block to optimize the reliability vector for extraction of the transmitted information from the received information.

Apparatus and method for generating (n, 3) code and (n, 4) code using simplex codes

An apparatus and method for generating a (n, 3) code and a (n, 4) code using simplex codes are disclosed. To encode a 3-bit information bit stream to a (n, 3) codeword with n code symbols, a simplex encoder generates a first-order Reed-Muller codeword with (P+1) code symbols from the input information bit stream for n>P, and punctures the first code symbol of the (P+1) first-order Reed-Muller code symbols to produce a (P, 3) simplex codeword. An interleaver permutates the P code symbols of the (P, 3) simplex codeword by columns according to a predetermined pattern. A repeater repeats the column-permutated (P, 3) simplex codeword until the number of repeated codes is n and outputs a (n, 3) codeword with the n repeated code symbols.

A receive codeword is separated into r1=u and r2=uv based on the optimal decomposition variable, and r2 is decoded according to the optimal decomposition variable, using a RM(r−1, m−1) decoder to obtain a decoded v and a first set of decoded bits. The decoded v is combined with r1 using (r1+r2v) / 2, and(r1+r2V) / 2 is decoded using a RM(r, m−1) decoder to obtain a decoded u and a second set of decoded bits.

High rate locally decodable codes

Data storage techniques and solutions simultaneously provide efficient random access to information and high noise resilience. The amount of storage space utilized is only slightly larger than the size of the data. The solution is based on locally decodable error-correcting codes (also referred to as locally decodable codes or LDCs). Locally decodable codes are described herein that are more efficient than conventional locally decodable codes. Such locally decodable codes are referred to as “multiplicity codes”. These codes are based on evaluating multivariate polynomials and their derivatives. Multiplicity codes extend traditional multivariate polynomial based (e.g., Reed-Muller) codes. Multiplicity codes inherit the local decodability of Reed-Muller codes, and at the same time achieve substantially better parameters.
