Mold-resistant gypsum panel and method of making same

A mold-resistant gypsum panel includes a core of an interlocking matrix of calcium sulfate dihydrate crystals, a facing material on at least one side of the panel and a salt of pyrithione dispersed through both the core and the facing materials. A method of making a mold-resistant gypsum product is also provided. A slurry of calcined gypsum, water and a water-soluble pyrithione salt is formed, then deposited on a sheet of facing material. The slurry on the facing material is shaped into a panel and maintained under conditions sufficient for the calcined gypsum to react with the water to form a core comprising an interlocking matrix of set gypsum crystals. Heating of the panel causes evaporation of the water that did not react with the calcined gypsum.

Pyrithione biocides enhanced by silver, copper, or zinc ions

The invention relates to an antibacterial mildewproof polylactic acid composition and a preparation method thereof. The composition comprises the following mixed components: polylactic acid, an antibacterial mildewproof agent, and a dispersant; wherein on a basis of 100 parts by weight of polylactic acid, the composition comprises 0.3-2 parts by weight of antibacterial mildewproof agents, and 0-0.5 parts by weight of dispersants; the antibacterial mildewproof agent is a polyguanidine pyrithione antibacterial mildewproof agent which is obtained by mixing an aqueous solution of water-soluble polyguanidine inorganic acid salts or organic acid salts and an aqueous solution of sodium pyrithione; the molar ratio of the water-soluble polyguanidine inorganic acid salts or organic acid salts and sodium pyrithione is 1:(0.1-5). The polylactic acid composition of the invention has good antibacterial and mildewproof effect. The antibacterial effect on staphylococcus aureus and escherichia coli is up to 99.9%; the mildewproof grade for mold such as aspergillus niger, aspergillus terreus, paecilomyces varioti bainier, and the like reaches 0 grade; the composition has good water resistant stability, and has wide application prospects.

Isothiazolinone biocides enhanced by zinc ions

The present invention relates to an antimicrobial composition comprising an isothiazolinone, such as 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, and a zinc compound selected from zinc salts, zinc oxides, zinc hydroxides or combinations thereof. Useful zinc salts include for example, oxides, sulfates, chlorides, and combinations thereof. In use, the zinc from the zinc compound enhances the antimicrobial activity to the isothiazolin-containing composition. This enhancement permits achieving the desired antimicrobial activity at a lower usage rate than is achieved using the isothiazolinone in the absence of the zinc compound. The antimicrobial composition can also contain co-biocides, such as pyrithiones, including zinc pyrithione or copper pyrithione.

The invention provides a marine antifouling coating. The coating comprises a film forming substance, an antifouling agent and a dilute serving as raw material components, wherein the film forming substance is organic silicon modified acrylic resin; and the antifouling agent comprises nano silver, zinc oxide and a pyrithione coordination compound. An environmentally-friendly marine antifouling coating is prepared by taking the organic silicon modified acrylic resin as the film forming substance, a silane coupling agent and polyamide as curing agents and the nano silver, the zinc oxide and the pyrithione coordination compound as composite disinfection anti-alga agents. The organic silicon modified acrylic resin has low surface energy, so that ordinary microorganisms are difficult to be attached to the surface of the resin; simultaneously, the nano silver and the pyrithione coordination compound have good disinfection and bacteriostasis effects and can effectively prevent the adhesion of marine microorganisms. Moreover, the coating provided by the invention does not contain the conventional cuprous oxide and organic tin antifouling agent, so that the environment is protected well.
