Expanded stent and a method for producing same

An expandable stent for insertion into a body lumen has a generally cylindrical lattice structure formed from wall segments that intersect and with some of the intersections being interrupted to enhance the flexibility of the stent. The wall segments associated with the interrupted portions are formed to have an outward flare such that when the stent is in a curved configuration, the wall segments will not project radially inwardly into the stent lumen, thereby avoiding obstruction to flow through the lumen.

Corner-consolidating inflatable apparatus and method for manufacturing composite structures

An inflatable compaction tool for consolidating a composite material inside a faceted hollow or tubular mold for a composite part is made from an elastic material. The compaction tool includes relatively flat wall segments conjoined by corner segments that define a sealed chamber. The wall segments curve away from the mold surface toward the midpoint of each wall segment, so that as a pressurized fluid is introduced into the compaction tool, a component of the force exerted on the tool interior surface is transmitted through the wall segments toward the corner segments. Thus, during initial inflation, the corner segments are forced toward the corner regions of the mold before the wall segments contact the composite material, firmly compressing the composite material into the corner regions of the mold before the friction of the wall segments against the composite material inhibits expansion of the corner segments into the mold corner regions.

Collapsible container

The present invention is directed to a collapsible container which is movable from a collapsed position having a reduced volume for storage and transport and an expanded position having dimensional rigidity and securely holding the contents of the container. The collapsible container has a plurality of outer wall segments having a side wall with a first and second edge, the outer wall segments being movable from a collapsed position wherein the plurality of outer wall segments are stacked within each other such that the height of the collapsed container is similar to the height of the individual outer wall segments and an expanded position for use of the collapsible container. The outer wall segments are provided with releasable locking means whereby the outer wall segments may be locked one to another in the expanded position and being releasable to allow for the collapsible container to be moved to the collapsed position. The releasable locking means are a releasable locking latch means adjacent a first edge of each of the outer wall segments and a locking latch means receptacle adjacent a second edge of the outer wall segments, the releasable locking latch means of an outer wall segment cooperating with the releasable locking latch means receptacle of an adjacent outer wall segment to releasably lock the collapsible container in the expanded position, the releasable locking latch means of an outer wall segment being disengageable from the releasable locking latch means receptacle of the adjacent outer wall segment to allow the collapsible container to be moved to the collapsed position.

Wafer container with staggered wall structure

A wafer container comprising a base and a cover that nest together. The base includes a staggered wall structure composed of inner and outer walls. The staggered wall structure is arranged so that forces from side impacts are absorbed principally by outer wall segments. A rib on the cover restrains the outer wall segments from flexing beyond the inner wall diameter. Reference tabs on the base facilitate alignment of the base to the cover.
