The present invention provides for a Domain Name Router (DNR) that uses domain names to route data sent to a destination on a network (e.g., a stub network). Each corporate entity or stub network can be assigned one or a small number of global addresses. Each of the hosts on the stub network can be assigned a global address. When a source entity sends data to a destination entity with a local address, the data is sent to the DNR using a global address. The source entity embeds the destination's domain name and its own domain name inside the data. The DNR extracts the destination's domain name from the data, translates that domain name to a local address and sends the data to the destination.

Provided are a coordinator, a gateway, and a transmission method for applying IPv6 in a wireless sensor network (WSN). Dual addressing of a link local address using a short address used in the WSN and a global unicast address using an extended unique identifier (EUI) of a node makes it possible to support mobility of the WSN and communicate data with an external network.

The local system can communicate with the external system by using a MAC address of a router found through an ARP packet. A method in a network device implements source address filtering, including gateway address filtering, to enable network devices to be configured in a true Ethernet ring network. By implementing source address filtering or source address filtering with gateway address filtering, a true ring network can be formed using Ethernet protocols where all the links between the network devices in the ring are active paths while avoiding data packets being switched endlessly around the ring. The method includes: after receiving a neighbor solicitation message sent by a terminal and inclusive of a Link-Local Address (LLA), comparing the LLA with addresses in an Internet Protocol (IP) address cache, and judging whether any address in the IP address cache matches with the LLA; and sending a proxy neighbor advertisement message to the terminal if an address in the IP address cache matches with the LLA, where the message indicates that the LLA is a duplicate address. In the embodiments of the present disclosure, after a neighbor solicitation message is received, duplicate addresses are detected for the LLA; after the Duplicate Address Detection (DAD), an IPv6 address is generated and delivered. In this way, IPv6 stateless address auto-configuration is realized on the terminal.
