144 results about "Channel bank" patented technology

In telecommunications, a channel bank is a device that performs multiplexing or demultiplexing ("demux") of a group of communications channels, such as analog or digital telephone lines, into one channel of higher bandwidth or higher digital bit rate, such as a DS-1 (T1) circuit, so that all the channels can be sent simultaneously over a single cable called a trunkline.

Coding scheme for a wireless communication system

Coding techniques for a (e.g., OFDM) communication system capable of transmitting data on a number of "transmission channels" at different information bit rates based on the channels' achieved SNR. A base code is used in combination with common or variable puncturing to achieve different coding rates required by the transmission channels. The data (i.e., information bits) for a data transmission is encoded with the base code, and the coded bits for each channel (or group of channels with the similar transmission capabilities) are punctured to achieve the required coding rate. The coded bits may be interleaved (e.g., to combat fading and remove correlation between coded bits in each modulation symbol) prior to puncturing. The unpunctured coded bits are grouped into non-binary symbols and mapped to modulation symbols (e.g., using Gray mapping). The modulation symbol may be "pre-conditioned" and prior to transmission.

Micropower wireless network self-organizing method and micropower wireless network

The invention discloses a micropower wireless network self-organizing method and a micropower wireless network. The micropower wireless network self-organizing method comprises steps that a main node initiates a broadcast network-organizing command hop by hop in a common channel bank and performs data interaction with a sub node in a private channel bank; the main node, after collects a network-organizing beacon transmitted from a concentrator, acquires a node identifier and the time cost of a main node transfer message to a sub node within a first hop range and simultaneously carries out channel scanning and field intensity collection; and main node scans preset numbers and determines whether the numbers conflict, wherein the network is successfully organized if no numbers conflict. The method acquires the time cost reaching various sub nodes by automatically switching channel scanning and field intensity collection, performs collection computation by data in multiple fields so as to comprehensively take consideration in order to achieve fast network organization. The method increases efficiency of network organization to a great extent, shortens network-organizing time, and improves the stability of network communication.

Data transmission scheme using channel group and DOCSIS implementation thereof

A novel apparatus for and a method of data transmission whereby an input data stream is distributed over a plurality of physical channels within a logical channel group. Transmission of data over the channel group appears as transmission over a single logical channel having a bandwidth approximately equal to the sum of the physical channel bandwidths. The physical channels making up the logical channel group may have different bandwidth capacities. The invention comprises a method of data unit distribution among a plurality of physical channels including the consideration of the bandwidth capacities of the individual physical channels in implementing the distribution algorithm, and the capability of reproducing the order of the transmission of the data units on the receiving side without the need for additional fields or modification of existing fields of the data units. The method of the present invention performs an algorithm whereby the transmitter and the receiver only need to decide to transmit / receive a data unit using the current channel or to switch to the next channel in the channel pool (i.e. the channel group). This decision is made considering the value of a bandwidth parameter and current ‘credit’ counter associated with each channel.

Method and apparatus for communicating maintenance messages and/or test messages of digital subscriber line services

A subscriber's data circuit between channel bank and the customer premises carries fractional T1 bandwidth on a digital subscriber line (DSL) circuit. For example, for an ISDN rate digital subscriber line (IDSL), the circuit between the network termination at the customer premises and a D4 channel bank carries data on two combined B-channels. Such a circuit also carries a D-channel and an embedded operations channel (EOC), in normal ISDN fashion. A data service using such a line circuit, however, only transports the data (combined B-channels) through the network. The D-channel and the EOC are not carried through the network. To facilitate testing of the subscriber's circuit, the carrier operations and testing facilities transmit loop-back commands or the like in band to the channel bank. A command may be addressed to any active node along the subscriber's DSL circuit. The line card serving the subscriber in the channel bank detects the commands, removes the commands from the in-band data and reformats the commands for transmission over the EOC channel. The line card addresses the commands and sends the EOC format commands over the DSL circuit to the appropriate node along the subscriber's line. In response, the node connects the circuit in a loop-back mode, to enable test signal transmission and analysis.

Methods and apparatus for transmitting data in a radio communication system including signaling allocation of a common channel

According to the invention, signalling of the used common channels is carried out implicitly via the data rate. Several combinations of channels (spread codes) are only permitted as an alternative for particular data rates of the individual services. Transmission capacity is saved since it is not necessary to reserve individual bits inside the TFCI parameter uniquely for the allocation of said common channels to different connections. The invention is especially useful in the downlink of the FDD modus of UMTS mobile radio systems.

Data transmission scheme with scheduling optimization for physical channel group

A novel apparatus for and a method of optimized data transmission whereby an input data stream is distributed over a plurality of physical channels within a logical channel group. Transmission of data over the channel group appears as transmission over a single logical channel having a bandwidth approximately equal to the sum of the physical channel bandwidths. The physical channels making up the logical channel group may have different bandwidth capacities. The method of data unit distribution among a plurality of physical channels generates several transmission plans for scheduling data units, which may have difference lengths, over the physical channels where the data stream is composed of data units from different sessions. A best plan according to one or more optimization criteria is selected and used for distribution of the data units. TV & FM transmitting system early warning monitoring

A computerized monitoring apparatus processes signals representing (a) incident power I2 to an antenna, (b) reflected power R2, radiated power T2, and arc voltage power A2. The monitor provides warning of arcing or overheating in the feedlines to (and inside) the antenna before catastrophic failure. Early warning of developing failures allows for orderly transition to standby transmission and avoids losing on-air time. The monitoring apparatus also provides a failsafe indication of whether power is delivered to the antenna and whether the antenna radiates the power delivered to it. Such failsafe indication is required before personnel are allowed near the antenna. The apparatus measures the relative power density at specified locations near and on the tower, and compares the measured RFR exposure density to that allowable by the Federal Communications Commission. The monitoring apparatus can be applied to multiple transmitters with multiple channel combiners feeding a common antenna connection.
