211 results about "Multi-monitor" patented technology

Multi-monitor, also called multi-display and multi-head, is the use of multiple physical display devices, such as monitors, televisions , and projectors, in order to increase the area available for computer programs running on a single computer system. Research studies show that, depending on the type of work, multi-head may increase the productivity by 50–70%.

Multiple remote display system

A multi-display system includes a host system that supports both graphics and video based frames for multiple remote displays, multiple users or a combination of the two. For each display and for each frame, a multi-display processor responsively manages each necessary aspect of the remote display frame. The necessary portions of the remote display frame are further processed, encoded and where necessary, transmitted over a network to the remote display for each user. In some embodiments, the host system manages a remote desktop protocol and can still transmit encoded video or encoded frame information where the encoded video may be generated within the host system or provided from an external program source. Embodiments integrate the multi-display processor with either the video decoder unit, graphics processing unit, network controller, main memory controller, or any combination thereof The encoding process is optimized for network traffic and attention is paid to assure that all users have low latency interactive capabilities.

Coordinating images displayed on devices with two or more displays

A hand held electronic device having at least two displays is disclosed. At least one display is a direct-view display, like those on most cell phones or PDAs in use in 2001, for viewing at normal reading distance of approximately 12 to 24 inches (“arms'-length” viewing). At least one of the other displays is a microdisplay, a tiny display with magnifying optical elements, for viewing larger, higher-resolution images when the microdisplay is positioned close to the eye. The invention allows coordinating microdisplays and direct-view displays in ways that allow people to comfortably access and interact with full-page Web content on pocket-size devices. When a user is viewing a Web page (or other content) on a device's microdisplay held near-to-eye, the device allows the user to position a cursor or a rectangular outline (or some other indication of a “region of interest”) on a particular part of the Web page, and then when the user moves the device out to arms'-length viewing, the user should be able to view that region of interest on the direct-view display—that is, view a subset of the larger image that appeared on the microdisplay.

Multi-Display Bedside Monitoring System

The present specification discloses systems and methods for patient monitoring using a multitude of display regions, at least two of which have the capability to simultaneously display real time patient waveforms and vital statistics as well as provide display for local and remote software applications. In one example, a primary display shows real time patient waveforms and vital statistics while a customizable secondary display shows trends, cumulative data, laboratory and radiology reports, protocols, and similar clinical information. Additionally, the secondary display can launch local and remote applications such as entertainment software, Internet and email programs, patient education software, and video conferencing applications. The dual display allows caregivers to simultaneously view real time patient vitals and aggregated data or therapy protocols, thereby increasing hospital personnel efficiency and improving treatment, while not compromising the display of critical alarms or other data.

Displaying visually correct pointer movements on a multi-monitor display system

A virtual space for displaying the pointer in a visually correct manner on a multi-monitor computer system is presented. The virtual space is kept separate from the internal display surface of the multi-monitor computer system upon which information is written to be displayed on the monitors. The virtual space is established such that the virtual display areas of the virtual space reflect the visual arrangement of the monitors. The virtual space captures all pointer movements, such as by a mouse or other input device, and moves the pointer within the virtual space. On a pointer update frame, the pointer is mapped from the virtual space to the internal display space such that the pointer may be displayed on the monitors.

Computer system for supporting multiple remote displays

A multi-display computer system comprises a host computer system that processes windowed desktop environments for multiple remote displays, multiple users or a combination of the two. For each display and for each frame, the multi-display processor responsively manages each necessary portion of a windowed desktop environment. The necessary portions of the windowed desktop environment are further processed, encoded, and where necessary, transmitted over the network to the remote display for each user. Embodiments integrate the multi-display processor with the graphics processing unit, network controller, main memory controller or a combination of the three. The encoding process is optimized for network traffic and special attention is made to assure that all users have low latency interactive capabilities.

Load balancing in a system with multi-graphics processors and multi-display systems

In typical embodiments a three GPU configuration is provided comprising three discrete video cards, each connected to a standard monitor placed horizontally for a 3× horizontal resolution. In this configuration, depending on the load on each GPU, the vertical split lines are dynamically adjusted. To adjust the load balancing according to these virtual split lines, the rendering clip rectangle of each GPU is adjusted, in order to reduce the number of pixels rendered by the heavily loaded GPU. These split lines define the boundary of the scene to be rendered by each GPU, and, according to some embodiments, may be moved horizontally. Thus for example if a GPU has a more complex rendering clip polygon to render than the other GPUs, the neighboring GPUs may render the rendering clip polygon it displays plus a portion of the rendering clip polygon to be displayed by heavily loaded GPU. The assisting GPUs transmit to the heavily loaded GPU the portion of the rendering clip polygon to be displayed by GPU via the chipset with a peer-to-peer protocol or through a communication bus. The split line is dynamically adjusted after each scene.

Multiple Application and Multiple Monitor User Interface Image Format Selection System for Medical and Other Applications

A screen sharing function enables a main executable application, which typically uses more than one monitor, to switch to single-monitor usage as necessary to allow a user to directly interact with other applications that the main executable application invokes. A system including multiple display monitors for displaying multiple user interface image windows associated with corresponding multiple executable applications employs an image format determination system. The image format determination system includes an input processor for receiving command data representing a command to initiate execution of a function of a second application and display of an associated second image window in response to user entry of a command via a first image window associated with a first application. An image format selection processor, in response to the received command data, automatically initiates reduction in size of the first image window to fit a screen of the multiple display monitors and to prevent mutual overlap of the reduced size first image window and the second image window. A display processor initiates generation of data representing the reduced size first image window and the second image window, for presentation on the multiple display monitors.
