A method for implanting a stent includes contracting a self-expanding/forcibly-expanding stent of a shape-memory material set to a given shape to a reduced implantation size with a delivery system having drive wires. The stent has a selectively adjustable assembly with adjustable elements operatively connected to the drive wires such that, when the adjustable elements are adjusted by the drive wires, a configuration change in at least a portion of the self-expanding stent occurs. The contracted stent is inserted into a native annulus in which the stent is to be implanted. The drive wires are rotated with the delivery system to forcibly expand the stent into the native annulus. While rotating the drive wires, a torque applied to the drive wires is determined with the delivery system. Rotation of the drive wires is stopped based upon a value of the determined torque.

Abstract of the Disclosure

The present invention provides an apparatus and method for use in processing semiconductor workpieces. The new apparatus and method allows for the production of thinner workpieces that at the same time remain strong. Particularly, a chuck is provided that includes a body, a retainer removeably attached to the body and a seal forming member. When a workpiece is placed on the chuck body and the retainer is engaged to the body, a peripheral portion of the back side of the workpiece is covered by the retainer while an interior region of the back side of the workpiece is exposed. The exposed back side of the workpiece is then subjected to a wet chemical etching process to thin the workpiece and form a relatively thick rim comprised of semiconductor material at the periphery of the workpiece. The thick rim or hoop imparts strength to the otherwise fragile, thinned semiconductor workpiece. Semiconductor workpieces made according to the present invention offer an improved structure for handling thinned wafers in conventional automated equipment. This results in improved yields and improved process efficiency.

A bottom hole assembly (BHA), adapted to be positioned in a casing and to isolate a portion of a wellbore, which includes a packer assembly with a first sealing element extending between first and second portions of the packer assembly. This invention relates generally to a diagnostic and therapeutic device. According to some aspects of the invention, the device may be composed of a flexible sheet that is wrapped around the endoscope shaft to form a flexible overtube. The overtube may include an inflatable positioning ring that may be inflated after placement of the overtube just proximal to the tip of the endoscope or colonoscope to secure the position of the overtube and create a seal within the body cavity. The overtube also may include an inflatable sealing band within the internal surface of the overtube that when inflated secure the position of the endoscope within the overtube and create a seal around the endoscope shaft. According to other aspects of the invention, the device may have a catheter with an occlusion balloon at its free end portion that is carried by the overtube and extends beyond the dostal endportion of the overtube and the tip of the endoscope that when inflated secure its position within the body cavity and create a seal within the body cavity. Inflation of the positioning ring, sealing band and occlusion balloon defines an examination compartment within the body cavity at the tip of the endoscope. The examination compartment may be filled with air, or with water, depending on applications. In addition the examination compartment can be thoroughly lavaged using the irrigation tube system.

A surface surrounds the opening, and a door is movable between one of an open position allowing access to the chamber through the opening and a closed position covering the opening. The holding unit on the housing is capable of receiving and holding an inflexible tube and a swage fitting. The present invention discloses an air vent cover for use in testing air leakage of an air duct system. The air vent cover includes a cover portion shaped to define a hollow cavity for enclosing an air vent. The air vent has a grill adjacent to a surface surrounding the air vent, and the grill has one or more louvers. The air vent cover includes a flexible connector extendable from the cover portion through the hollow cavity to the air vent. The flexible connector is removeably attachable to at least one of the louvers on the grill of the air vent. The flexible connector adjusts to secure an edge of the cover portion against a region of the surface surrounding the air vent, thereby creating a seal for inhibiting air flow through the air vent.
