The present invention relates to a mobility aiding device, such as a walker, a wheelchair, a transport chair, a shower seat or a rollator, for use in providing support to injured or ailing persons during activity or movement. According to the present invention a solid two-piece seating platform is provided with a structural support for distributing the weight of the user to the frame. Furthermore, the two pieces of the seating platform are inter-hinged, enabling the entire device to fold up into a storage position. A lock is provided for maintaining the structural support in place, and a handle is provided for facilitating folding the device into the storage position.

The present invention relates to a wheeled vehicle and a method of operation thereof. The invention is particularly suitable for use in relation to mobility aids for the disabled. The wheeled vehicle includes a frame, a first wheel assembly including first and second wheels having parallel and spaced apart axes of rotation, wherein the first and second wheels are adapted to pivot about a first pivot axis relative to the frame, and a second wheel assembly including a third wheel adapted to pivot about a second pivot axis relative to the frame. A vehicle has an area capable of seating ambulatory passengers and alternatively receiving a mobility aid, such as a wheelchair. The area provides tracks for mounting at least two movable seats that can be moved to provide space in the area for the mobility aid. One of the seats is configured to move further than the other whereby the spacing between the seats after moving to accommodate a mobility aid is less than the spacing of the seats when used by ambulatory passengers. The seat configured to move further has a longer track cover, but the tracks are laterally spaced to avoid engagement between the track covers of the two seats whereby they can be moved to be spaced from each other by a distance less than the length of either of the track covers.

An adjustable walker includes a tubular frame construction having front and lateral telescoping tubes defining a walker space for a user. The lateral tubes have handgrips suitable for being grasped by a user. The front telescoping tubes are adjustable in length to adjust the width of the walker space for the user and the lateral telescoping tubes are adjustable in length to adjust the height of the handgrips. Locking mechanisms are provided for locking the front telescoping tubes and the lateral telescoping tubes. Actuators on the handgrips selectively unlock the locking mechanisms to allow a user to adjust the width of the walker space and for selectively unlocking the second locking to allow a user to adjust the height of said handgrips to adjust the height and/or width of the walker by use of said actuators on said handgrips without bending or letting go of the walker.

A rehabilitation and guiding method includes the steps of: A) constantly projecting a visible light beam to a next-step position of the mobility aid; B) moving the mobility aid to its next-step position under the guidance of the visible light beam; C) constantly emitting an ultrasonic wave to a next-step position of at least one of the user's feet to define a detection area; D) detecting whether the foot is moved into the detection area; E) recording the moving process of any of the steps A through D and notifying a remote device of the moving process; and F) detecting any of the steps A through D and, if an abnormal condition occurs, sending out a warning message.

A wheelchair includes at least one side frame connected to a front caster assembly, and a cross-brace assembly. The cross-brace assembly includes a cross-brace member; at least one rear caster assembly connected to the cross-brace member; at least one main drive wheel axle tube fitting connected to the cross-brace member; and at least one arm connected to the cross-brace member.
