The invention discloses a thermotropic crosslinking type shape memory polyurethane material obtained by thermal crosslinking of thermoplastic polyurethane with a side-chain double bond, a bifunctional crosslinking agent and an initiator; in a bending mode, the shape fixed rate is more than or equal to 95%, and the shape recovery rate is more than or equal to 90%; in a dynamic mechanical analysis tensile mode, the shape fixed rate is more than or equal to 95%, and the shape recovery rate is more than or equal to 90%. A preparation method disclosed by the invention is a second-step method and comprises the steps: firstly preparing the thermoplastic polyurethane with the side-chain double bond, then carrying out melting mixing or solution mixing with the bifunctional crosslinking agent under a condition with addition of the initiator, and carrying out thermal crosslinking to prepare the product. The polyurethane material disclosed by the invention has excellent shape memory properties and mechanical properties, the transition temperature is close to a body temperature, and the raw materials have good biological compatibility and no toxicity and can be degraded; the polyurethane material can be used as in-vivo implant materials and clinical surgical materials, also can be used for wire and cable casings and building pipe connecting sleeves, moreover, can be used for buffer sole protection devices, deformation toys and the like, and is suitable for large-scale industrialized production.

A suction retractor including an elongated tube that is operable to be inserted through a tubular retractor used in minimally invasive surgical procedures. One end of the tube is coupled to a handle having a chamber and the other end of the tube is coupled to a curved retractor portion, where the retractor portion allows the surgeon to hold back various anatomies during the surgical procedure. Thus, the suction retractor provides two functions that may otherwise require two different instruments. Device and method for collecting surgical material

The present invention includes a collection device for collecting material during a surgical procedure. In one aspect, the collection device includes a collection chamber having an opening sufficient for permitting collection of the material during the surgical procedure and a scoop wall extending from the encompassing wall, the scoop wall having a distal end portion for positioning proximate a source of the material and for guiding the material to the collection chamber. In another aspect of the invention, the collection chamber has at least one aperture within the collection chamber of a size to permit flow of fluid from the chamber when the collected material is contained within the chamber. Fluid may also be poured out of the chamber without the collected material following the fluid thereby retaining the collected material within the chamber. In yet another aspect, the collection device is used for collecting bone chips that are produced during the surgical procedure and the device includes a wall extending from the collection portion of the invention that is sufficiently pliant to generally conform to the operative site from which the bone chips are being collected. Yet another aspect of the present invention includes a collection chamber that has a wall structure with a front and a back wall and an opening for collecting bone chips positioned between the front and the back wall with the front wall having a cutout positioned proximate the top portion of the front wall of a size sufficient for positioning a reamer therein such that bone chips produced by the reamer fall within the collection chamber. Another aspect of the present invention includes a smooth, concave inner surface within the chamber for facilitating the effective retrieval of bone chips.
