A container for a food product includes a wrapper which surrounds a frame. The container can be any polygonal shape which is defined by the shape of the frame. The wrapper forms a top of the container which has an access opening. A sealing layer is adhesively sealed to the top around the opening. The sealing layer is resealable when a tab of the sealing layer is pulled back. The sealing layer is resealable against the top layer to seal the opening when the sealing layer is moved back to a flat position on the top. Various tamper-evident structures are provided to indicate when the container has been initially opened or tampered with.

A method of making a texture-coated and/or insulation coated container from a flat paperboard blank in which a heat-hardenable liquid polymeric binder texturizing and/or insulating agent coating mixture is applied to one surface of the blank in a pattern of covered and open areas. This coating mixture is subjected to heat to cure the polymeric binder and expand the texturizing and/or insulating agent, optionally treated with moisture, and optionally heated to form the blank into the shape of a container, and the container produced by this method. The containers such as cups, plates, etc., are useful in food service. These containers have a coefficient of static friction which is about 0.2 to 2.0 and over and a kinetic coefficient of friction which is about 0.22 to 1.5.

A food tray assembly comprises a serving platter and a receptacle platter. The serving platter has a central aperture disposed there through and a serving area defined between the central aperture and a perimeter thereof. The receptacle platter has a bottom and a peripheral wall extending from the bottom at a perimeter thereof. The serving platter and the receptacle platter are releasably coupled to one another.

A folding pastry box is provided having a folding lid portion that is hinged to a lower box portion. The folding lid has a window that extends between the lid portion and the lower box portion for viewing the contents of the folding pastry box. A machine for wrapping a load with a film made of synthetic plastics includes a first frame suitable for supporting second frame that rotatably supports around, and slidably parallel to, a wrapping axis at least one wrapping unit including a reel of the film and a roller assembly arranged for unwinding and prestretching the film. The second frame is slidably mounted on the first frame and is movable along an advancing direction that is transverse, and in particular orthogonal, to the wrapping axis. A conveyor is provided for moving the load along the advancing direction. The conveyor and the second frame are movable in a mutually coordinated manner to wrap the load with the film also while the load is moved along the advancing direction.

A wrapping apparatus and method utilize a corner geometry-based wrap control that controls the rate at which packaging material is dispensed at least in part based on the geometrical relationship between one or more corners of a load and a packaging material dispenser.

A high speed linear bagging machine and method of bagging a product with such machine is described. The machine has a reciprocating linear bagger assembly which has a straight drive member with a carriage connected thereto. A drive having a pair of coils is used to drive the straight drive member to displace the carriage. A stroke controller is used to control the coils dependent on a desired forward and rearward displacement stroke of a carriage along the drive member. A product receptacle is secured to the carriage and displaceable to a bagging station. A bag engaging member is connected to the carriage and a product arresting member is displaceable for abutting relationship with an end of a product at the bagging station. The bag engaging means engages an open end of a bag at a forward end of the displacement stroke adjacent the bagging station and withdrawing the open end of the bag over the product which is maintained substantially stationary by the product arresting means during a reverse stroke of a carriage whereby to insert the product in the bag and discharge the bagged product. The drive member is comprised of a straight thrust rod of magnetic material which constitutes a stator of the linear motor. The pair of coils are connected to the carriage and energized for displacing the carriage along the thrust rod to cause displacement of the carriage.

A wrapping apparatus and method utilize a corner rotation angle-based wrap control that controls the rate at which packaging material is dispensed based on the rotational position of one or more corners of the load during relative rotation established between the load and a packaging material dispenser. The locations of one or more corners on a load may be sensed or otherwise calculated, and when combined with a sensed or calculated rotational position of the load relative to a packaging material dispenser, the locations of the corners relative to the packaging material dispenser may be determined and utilized to control the dispense rate of the packaging material dispenser, e.g., by determining which corner is currently driving an effective consumption rate of the load and/or determining when to apply a controlled intervention to the load.

A folding baked goods box that has a lower box portion having upstanding walls including a back wall that has a lower window edge. A lid portion of the box is hingedly attached to the lower box at the back wall. The top includes oppositely located lateral window edges that define lateral sides of a window. The lid portion includes a lid front that extends downwardly from the top and has a lower window edge is located within the front. The window in the baked goods box extends continuously from the lower window edge of the back wall across the top of the lid portion, between lateral window edges to the lower window edge of the front of the lid portion. A relatively large food container includes a food box member in combination with a removable relatively small unfolded food container blank or insert. More specifically, the food box member includes an outside box member portion, the unfolded food container blank or insert is in a form of an inside box member portion, and perforations or slit cuts connect the outside box member portion to the inside box member portion. The removable unfolded food container blank is shaped and has fold lines so that when suitably manipulated it is adapted to form a triangularly-shaped small food box. The triangularly-shaped small food box is eminently suitable for storing left-over triangularly-shaped pieces or “wedges” of pizza.

Disclosed is a product container that includes, inter alia, a cover portion, a base portion, a hinge section and a hang tab. The hinge section joins the cover portion with the base portion and allows the cover portion to articulate between an open position and a closed position. The cover portion and the base portion are adapted and configured to engage about their periphery and form a product storage compartment when the container is closed. The hang tab projects from the base portion of the product container and enables the closed clamshell container to be suspended from a hook in a retail store. The hang tab is integrally formed, at least in part, from material that is scavenged from the hinge section of the container. In certain constructions, the container is tamper-evident/resistant and the hinge section includes a frangible strip for facilitating separation of the cover portion from the base portion.

The invention relates to a device for placing sleeves on traveling articles, said sleeves being cut from a continuous sheath passing over a sheath-opening shaper, first outer wheels serving to advance the sheath along the shaper, and second outer wheels being provided downstream from cutter means for the purpose of ejecting the cut-off sheath segment, said wheels being driven in rotation by associated electric motors controlled synchronously by a virtual-shaft common electronic programmer. In accordance with the invention, the programmer is arranged to determine a continuous profile of speed variation for the associated electric motors, said profiles being bell-shaped and having a common end segment in which the profiles coincide, this corresponding to the motors having identical speeds, the length of the common end segment being selected so that the sheath is advanced beyond the point of tangential contact with the second wheels so that said sheath is pinched by said second wheels prior to being held stationary for the cutting and ejection pass.

A dual pizza pie container system is provided, which includes a solid rectangular enclosure and a pizza support platform within the enclosure. The pizza support platform includes four foldable equilateral flaps which, when folded to generally right angles relative to a central base, define an octahedron having four long edges defining a virtual square and four alternating diagonal edges at corners of the support platform when folded. One of the equilateral flaps is provided with an aperture therein which effects registration with the an aperture of the fourth sidewall of the top cover of the enclosure in which widths of the equilateral sidewalls of the platform define about one-half of the height of the sidewalls of the enclosure. Thereby, upper and lower interior solid horizontal compartments, one above and one below the platform, are defined when the support platform is positioned within the enclosure and the enclosure is closed.
