Emergency vehicle traffic signal preemption system

An emergency vehicle traffic light preemption system for preemption of traffic lights at an intersection to allow safe passage of emergency vehicles. The system includes a real-time status monitor of an intersection which is relayed to a control module for transmission to emergency vehicles as well as to a central dispatch office. The system also provides for audio warnings at an intersection to protect pedestrians who may not be in a position to see visual warnings or for various reasons cannot hear the approach of emergency vehicles. A transponder mounted on an emergency vehicle provides autonomous control so the vehicle operator can attend to getting to an emergency and not be concerned with the operation of the system. Activation of a priority-code (i.e. Code-3) situation provides communications with each intersection being approached by an emergency vehicle and indicates whether the intersection is preempted or if there is any conflict with other approaching emergency vehicles. On-board diagnostics handle various information including heading, speed, and acceleration sent to a control module which is transmitted to an intersection and which also simultaneously receives information regarding the status of an intersection. Real-time communications and operations software allow central and remote monitoring, logging, and command of intersections and vehicles.

Methods and systems for ablating tissue

InactiveUS20080045890A1Improve side effectsLess damage to the heart's electrical functionsBalloon catheterMedical devicesAbnormal tissue growthHypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Methods and systems for treating patients requiring tissue ablation for volumetric tissue reduction rely on the injection of ethanol and other tissue-ablating agents into the perivascular space surrounding body lumens, particularly blood vessels or vessels of the alimentary canal, reproductive system and urinary tract. Injection of tissue-ablating agents is intended treat conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, benign and malignant tumors, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and uterine fibroids, for example. Injection may be achieved using intravascular catheters which advance needles radially outward from a body vessel lumen or by transmyocardial injection from an epicardial or endocardial surface of the heart.

Golf practice aid

A golf practice aid includes two parallel rails separated by crossed spacers. The distance of separation is sufficient to reasonably accommodate a golf club head therebetween, and is contemplated to be adjustable. Within the parallel rows are a line of holes for receiving golf tees. The tees then are placed to form two parallel rows spaced about the position the ball is to be located. Swing path and deviation is visually monitored by the pattern of tees that are displaced from holes after the swing is complete. To accommodate longer swings, several golf practice aids may be serially placed, and may include overlap therebetween when desired. An optional hoop is disclosed which is designed to assist with putting practice. An alternative embodiment more specifically for putting is also disclosed which provides a free standing assembly having two parallel rails and multiple upwardly extending hoops, the combination which may be formed as a unitary construction.

Double-pin locking extensible handle

A telescoping handle includes an outer tubular rod, an inner rod and a lock. The lock is made of a collar; two arc-rings, two retaining covers, and two buttons. The collar slides over the outer tubular rod and the inner rod slides into the other end. A recess in the collar holds two arc-rings that define an inwardly projecting pin sized to pass through the collar and into a hole on the inner rod. Two buttons passing through covers to the recesses enables contact with the two arc-rings causing each projecting pin to withdraw from the inner rod when pushed. When released, each button disengages from the two-arc rings causing the projecting pin to slide into a hole in the inner rod to prevent movement of the inner rod. A spring may be used to bias the two arc-rings into engagement with the inner rod.

Method and apparatus for interconnecting traction cleats and receptacles

A thinner shoe mounted receptacle results from a thin cleat attachment flange received in a shallow receptacle cavity. An angled interface between the cleat and receptacle provide a friction fit engagement to minimize inadvertent disengagement of the cleat and receptacle. Rotational locking occurring inside or outside the cavity further prevents inadvertent cleat rotation. Multiple positionally synchronized angular stops positively define the final angular orientation of the cleat in the receptacle.

Identity authentication method and system based on electroencephalogram characteristics

The invention discloses an identity authentication method and system based on electroencephalogram characteristics. The method comprises the following steps: model training, password setting, alpha wave test, electroencephalogram characteristic extraction and classification, and model updating. The electroencephalogram characteristic extraction and classification method is composed of pre-training layer by layer, network fine tuning and classification. According to the identity authentication method and system disclosed by the invention, first level authentication is performed on a tester by means of the property that the alpha waves fluctuate greatly when the tester is lying, meanwhile the existing method is improved to establish a feature extraction method based on a depth belief network, meanwhile the feature extraction method is optimized by using an immune leapfrog algorithm, and when the tester observes password patterns, feature extraction and classification are performed on the brain waves so as to perform second level authentication. By means of the two levels of authentication, the security of the user can be guaranteed, and the improved depth belief network can also improve the existing identification precision, ensure less error rates, avoid a large number of false alarms and bring good user experience.

Crab resistant, load shifting, puller oarlock and rigger assembly

An oar or scull is attached to the racing shell with an assembly that assures all motions required for rowing and restricts others. Over squaring and over feathering of the blade is prevented using stops which also provide positive feedback of blade orientation to the athlete and eliminate oarlock slap and rattle. Pulling on the oar handle inboard approximately 0.2 inches prior to squaring or feathering the blade moves the oarshaft outboard or inboard respectively, changing the leverage or load, at the completion of squaring or feathering. Normal rowing at the selected load is maintained with a steady outboard force of the oar handle. The oarlock is situated on the bow side of the vertical pin pulling the pin toward the bow during the propulsive phase of the rowing stroke. The vertical pin is supported by rigging which extends from the top and bottom of the vertical pin toward the stern. This rigging arrangement assures a stable pin that remains vertical because the restraining member is in tension toward the stern.
