Embodiment 1

[0079] 100 g of synthetic fluorophlogopite with an equivalent diameter distribution of 2-40 μm was suspended in deionized water. The concentration used here is 50 g / l. The pH value was adjusted to 2.0 and the suspension was heated to 75°C. First, 100 ml of 2% tin tetrachloride solution was added. The pH was kept constant at 2.0 by back titration with 32% sodium hydroxide solution. The pH was then adjusted to 1.8 by adding hydrochloric acid. 240 ml of a 30% titanium tetrachloride solution were then metered in at a pH kept constant at 1.8.

[0080] TiO is given by consuming a predetermined volume of solution 2 end point of the hydrate layer. The pH was then adjusted to 9.0 by adding 32% sodium hydroxide solution. Subsequently, 50 ml of CaCl 2 , titanium chloride and hydrogen peroxide (7.2 g of CaCl 2 ×2H 2 O, 0.08mol TiCl 4 , 6 ml of 30% hydrogen peroxide solution, made up to a volume of 50 ml with water), during which the pH was kept constant. The reaction product wa...

Abstract

Effect pigments exhibiting a synthetic mica panels in which 90% of the particle with an equivalent distribution of 2-40 mu m, and a thickness distribution of 100-3500 nm and a coating by a refractive index >=1.9 containing titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and/or one or more heavily soluble alkaline-earth compound. Independent claims are included for: (1) a formulations comprising one or more effect pigments; (2) a production of the effect pigment comprising coating the synthetic mica panel wet chemical via hydrolytic decomposition of metal salts in aqueous medium; (3) a pigment preparation comprising one or more binder, optionally one or more additives and the effect pigment; and (4) drying preparations comprising the effect pigments.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to yellowing-stable silver-white effect pigments with high whiteness based on synthetic mica flakes and to their use, in particular in paints, lacquers, printing inks, plastics, as Dopant for laser marking of plastics and paper, use as additive in the food and pharmaceutical sector and for use in cosmetic formulations. Background technique [0002] Silver-white gloss or effect pigments are used in many technical fields, in particular in the field of automotive coatings, decorative coatings, in plastics, in coatings, printing inks and in cosmetic formulations. Silver-white effect pigments (pearlescent pigments) based on natural mica (muscovite) and synthetic mica are known. [0003] Commercially available silver-white effect pigments generally consist of natural mica flakes covered with a thin layer of titanium dioxide. As it occurs naturally, muscovite always contains foreign components, such as iron compounds, which oft...
