According to the identification photo generation method and apparatus provided by the invention, the identification photo shooting mode is set in the shooting terminal to directly obtain the identification photo, the whole process step is simple, and no post processing of the shot photo depending on special photo editing software is required. In the identification photo generation method and apparatus provided by the embodiment of the invention, the extracted head portrait area comprises the human face and the hairs, thereby avoiding the problem that only the human face is extracted to replace the background in the face identification technology, resulting in obvious PS mark of the photo.
