Synthetic audiovisual description scheme, method and system for MPEG-7

A method and system for description of synthetic audiovisual content makes it easier for humans, software components or devices to identify, manage, categorize, search, browse and retrieve such content. For instance, a user may wish to search for specific synthetic audiovisual objects in digital libraries, Internet web sites or broadcast media; such a search is enabled by the invention. Key characteristics of synthetic audiovisual content itself such as the underlying 2d or 3d models and parameters for animation of these models are used to describe it. More precisely, to represent features of synthetic audiovisual content, depending on the description scheme to be used, a number of descriptors are selected and assigned values. The description scheme instantiated with descriptor values is used to generate the description, which is then stored for actual use during query / search. Typically, a user, to search for a needed synthetic audiovisual content initiates a query that is passed on to a search engine that then retrieves the candidate content from one or more databases whose description closely matches the query criteria specified by the user.

Seawater desalination system using jet technique

A seawater desalination system is provided using a jet technique, which comprises a filter apparatus, a sonic energy treatment apparatus, and a desalination apparatus. After being coarse-filtered and fine-filtered, the seawater enters the sonic energy treatment apparatus. After being treated by the sonic energy treatment apparatus, the seawater is stored in a water storage tank in the form of small molecular clusters, and then pumped into a reverse osmosis membrane. After osmosis, the water becomes freshwater and stored in a freshwater tank. During the process, the reverse osmosis membrane can be replaced by a distillatory. The system has the advantages of a simple structure of the seawater desalination apparatus, less investment, low cost, and stable performance. The seawater is not only desalinated, but also chain-shortened into water of small molecular clusters, which is easily absorbed and utilized by human body.

Apparatus for mounting underwater marine detection equipment on a waterborne vessel

An apparatus for mounting underwater marine detection equipment on a waterborne vessel is provided having a baseplate which is secured to a side of the waterborne vessel. The baseplate extends outward from the side of the waterborne vessel over the surface of the water. A shaft holder bracket is rotatably mounted to the baseplate such that the shaft holder bracket may rotate in a plane generallyparallel to the forward and reverse direction of the waterborne vessel from a first position to a second position. The shaft holder bracket has a through passageway to receive a shaft. An elongate shaft having an upper portion and a lower portion which are rotatably joined and separable, is slidably engaged through the passageway in the shaft holder bracket, such that the elongate shaft can rotate and slide within the shaft holder bracket. The shaft holder bracket has means to secure the elongate shaft from rotation and sliding. The elongate shaft has a handle on the top of the shaft and a marine detection equipment mount on the bottom of the shaft. The elongate shaft is long enough to extend below the bottom surface of the waterborne vessel when the shaft holder bracket is in the first position, and the elongate shaft is totally out of the water when the shaft holder bracket is rotated to the second position. The marine detection equipment mount is rotatably and adjustably attached to the lower portion of the elongate shaft, such that the marine detection equipment mount can rotate 360 degrees in a plane perpendicular to the surface of the water. The marine detection equipment mount has means to secure marine detection equipment.

System and method for generating electricity

A system and method for generating electric power includes a barge with a frame mounted thereon. A paddlewheel is rotationally mounted on one end of the barge to provide rotational torque to a first transmission. The first transmission drives a hydraulic pump for pumping hydraulic fluid to a hydraulic motor. The hydraulic motor drives a second transmission which is operable to drive an electric generator for generating electricity. During operation, the force of naturally flowing water turns the paddlewheel. This in turn provides rotational power to drive the transmissions, hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor. The frame may further be divided into two hingedly connected portions. One portion of the frame may be rotated out of the water to control the turning of the paddlewheel as well as perform maintenance on the paddlewheel.

Information providing system, information processing apparatus and method, and information providing apparatus and method

The present invention relates to an information providing system, information processing apparatus and method, and information providing apparatus and method, which prevents network contents from being used unduly. The broadcast contents, sent on the air toward a digital broadcast receiver 4 by the broadcast station 1-1, 1-2, has a reference to network contents to be provided by a contents server 9. The digital broadcast receiver 4 requests the contents server 9 to deliver network contents through the Internet 8. At this time, a URI of the broadcast contents is sent to the contents server 9. The contents server 9 searches through a database on the basis of the broadcast contents URI. In the case that the broadcast contents is not restricted in making reference to the network contents, the network contents are distributed to the digital broadcast receiver 4 through the Internet 8. The invention is applicable to a digital broadcast system.

Method for removal of acetylenes from hydrocarbon streams

The process of the invention comprises contacting a hydrocarbon stream, comprising light olefins plus impurities such as acetylenes, in the absence of hydrogen with a supported copper catalyst, preferably CuO / alumina. The acetylene component undergoes a coupling reaction producing a diacetylene which can be more readily removed. Thus, the methylacetylene (MA) contaminant in liquid propylene yields at about 80° C. and 3792 kPa (550 psig) a significant amount dimethyl diacetylene (2,4-hexadiyne). Surprisingly, very little cyclization products are present. The process is useful for purification of olefin feeds. It can be used alone or in combination with known purification methods such as catalytic distillation or selective hydrogenation.
