Locking device

A locking device for a lock cylinder (12) has an electronically controlled inhibiting element (2), which in an inhibit position (x.sub.S) blocks movement of a rotor (1) relative to a stator (6) and frees the rotor (1) in a free position (x.sub.F). A drive (9) exerts a working force (F.sub.A) on the inhibiting element (2), by which inhibiting element (2) can be reversibly transferred from the inhibit position (x.sub.S) into the free position (x.sub.F) and vice versa. A guide (52-57) is connected to the drive (9) and, at least outside the free position (x.sub.F), clearly defines the position of the inhibiting element (2). A restoring device (3) exerts a restoring force (F.sub.R) directed away from the free position (x.sub.F) on the inhibiting element (2), when that element is between the free position (x.sub.F) and a rest position (x.sub.O). In the rest position (x.sub.O) and in positions between the rest position (x.sub.O) and the free position (x.sub.F), the inhibiting element inhibits movement of the rotor (1). The locking device is resistant to external, undesired vibration and / or shock effects or magnetic action.

Quick lock release system for parking meter vaults

A parking meter has a vault housing and a vault door removably covering a main opening and having a back facing an interior of the housing. A lock assembly includes a lock cylinder disposed on the door and that has a body and a usually movable portion. A bolting mechanism operatively connects to the movable portion of the lock cylinder for selectively providing a locked position. A support structure is disposed on the interior side of the door and holds the bolting mechanism. A removable retainer engages the body of the lock cylinder, which is usually stationary. This results in the retainer preventing motion of the body sufficient to operate the bolting mechanism. The support structure is configured for releasably maintaining the retainer on the lock cylinder body. The vault housing defines a tool hole providing access to the interior of the housing for insertion of a disengagement tool through the tool hole. The retainer has a portion configured for connecting to the disengagement tool and is configured so that retracting the disengagement tool while connected to the retainer provides enough disengagement from the lock cylinder body to permit motion of the lock cylinder body to operate the bolting mechanism when the movable portion will not move relative to the body.

Cross mechanical anti-theft lock with fixed lock cylinder

The invention relates to a cross mechanical anti-theft lock with a fixed lock cylinder. The lock comprises a prying resistant plate, a drilling resistant piece, a backboard, a lock cylinder, an inner rotary ring, an outer rotary ring, a dialing ring, a moment limiter, a cam shaft and a matched key. The lock is mainly characterized in that the lock cylinder is fixedly assembled between the prying resistant plate and the backboard and cannot move. Driven by the cam, the inner and outer rotary rings at the periphery of the lock cylinder synchronously rotate an angle of 15 degrees first and are staggered with the lock cylinder, and then the outer rotary ring continuously rotates independently and unlocks, so that the lock cannot be unlocked technically. The prying resistant plate is located outside the lock cylinder, and a cross hole is formed in a position corresponding to the prying resistant plate, so that the lock is prevented from being destructively unlocked by a forced unlocking tool. The moment limiter can idle when a handle is rotated with brute force, so that the lock is prevented from being damaged and cannot be unlocked. The unlocking process comprises the following steps: inserting the key without rotating the key and rotating the handle for 90 degrees. The lock is locked without the key and in a way of reversely rotating the handle for an angle of 50 degree.

High security cylinder lock and key

A cylinder lock includes a shell and a plug inside the shell. A locking pin, a sensor pin and a flexible coupling are mounted within the plug. The sensor pin moves the flexible coupling and the coupling moves the locking pin to an unlocked position when the correct key is inserted into a key slot in the plug. The key includes a locking pin receiving notch, to allow the locking pin to move to the unlocked position. The key also includes a contact surface that moves the sensor pin and thereby moves the locking pin to the unlocked position through the flexible coupling. When an incorrect key, without the locking pin receiving notch, is inserted, the flexibility of the flexible coupling allows the sensor pin to move without moving the locking pin. The cylinder lock may also include conventional pin tumblers. The receiving notch of the key may be provided with an alignment surface that cooperates with the locking pin to control the depth the key is inserted into the lock and allow keys of varying length to align relative to the pin tumblers of the cylinder lock.

Electromechanical cylinder lock

An electromechanical cylinder lock includes an outer lock shell and a rotatable lock barrel located therein which is controlled by dual locking features. A side bar or fence selectively blocks and permits rotation of the barrel with respect to the shell in response to insertion of a key into a keyway in the barrel. A slider bar is movable between a blocking position in which the side bar is prevented from permitting rotation of the barrel, and an unblocking position in which the side bar permits rotation of the barrel. Alternately, a blocking mechanism is provided to block motion of tumbler pins in the cylinder lock. A shape memory alloy actuator, such as a wire made of NITINOL disposed in the barrel is activated by an electric current in response to determination by an electronic control device whether an attempt to open the lock is authorized. Thermal interlock protection from external heating of the lock is also provided.

Method for rekeying a rekeyable lock cylinder

This invention is to provide a method for rekeying a rekeyable lock cylinder. The first step of entire rekeying process is to insert a first user key into a keyhole of a sliding block of a plug assembly and turn the first user key to rotate the plug assembly, then a thrust is added to the first user key to move the sliding block of the plug assembly, thereby disengaging a plurality of upper locking pieces and a plurality of lower locking pieces within a plurality of lower pin sets. Next, after pulling out the first user key from the keyhole, a second user key is inserted into the keyhole of the sliding block and turned to restore the sliding block as to reengage the upper locking pieces and the lower locking pieces. Finally, the second user key is pulled out to complete the entire rekeying process. Accordingly, the present invention may provide advantages of widely lowering rekeying cost and enhancing convenience in use, because lock replacement may be completed as soon as rekeying another user key only without replacing lock cylinder.
