LED power control methods and apparatus

Methods and apparatus for providing and controlling power to loads including one or more LEDs. In one example, a controlled predetermined power is provided to a load without requiring any feedback information from the load (i.e., without monitoring a load voltage and / or load current). In another example, a “feed-forward” power driver for an LED-based light source combines the functionality of a DC-DC converter and a light source controller, and is configured to control the intensity of light generated by the light source based on modulating the average power delivered to the light source in a given time period, without monitoring and / or regulating the voltage or current provided to the light source. In various examples, significantly streamlined circuits having fewer components, higher overall power efficiencies, and smaller space requirements are realized. Based on various power driver configurations, lighting apparatus incorporating one or more power drivers for one or more LED-based loads may be implemented, and multiple such lighting apparatus may be coupled together to form a lighting network in which operating power is efficiently provided throughout the network.

Techniques and System to Deploy Policies Intelligently

In an information management system, relevant policies are deployed to targets while policies which are not relevant are not. By deploying relevant policies, this reduces the amount of space requirements at the target to store the policies and the amount of data that needs to be sent to the target. Also, execution speed at the target may increase since the target does not need to evaluate policies that are not relevant.

Techniques of optimizing policies in an information management system

In an information management system, policies are optimized before they are associated to a device in order to increase evaluation speed or reduce space requirements, or both. Optimization techniques may include common subexpression elimination, constant folding, constant propagation, comparison optimization, dead code or subexpression removal, map or lookup table generation, policy rewriting, redundant policy elimination, heuristic-based policy ordering, or policy-format transformation, and combinations of these.

Incremental backup of source to target storage volume

Various method, system, and computer program product embodiments for performing a backup of a source storage volume to a target storage volume are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a flashcopy of the source storage volume to the target storage volume is initiated. The content of the source storage volume is stored on the target storage volume in a space efficient manner. The space requirement of the stored content on the target storage volume is monitored. The flashcopy is terminated when the space requirement reaches a predetermined level. The stored content on the target storage volume is copied to a backup storage medium. A new flashcopy of the source storage volume is initiated.

Circuit layout methodology

A circuit layout methology is provided for eliminating the extra processing time and file-space requirements associated with the optical proximity correction (OPC) of a VLSI design. The methodology starts with the design rules for a given manufacturing technology and establishes a new set of layer-specific grid values. A layout obeying these new grid requirements leads to a significant reduction in data preparation time, cost, and file size. A layout-migration tool can be used to modify an existing layout in order to enforce the new grid requirements.

Test and burn-in apparatus, in-line system using the test and burn-in apparatus, and test method using the in-line system

A test and burn-in apparatus for semiconductor chip package devices, an in-line system which includes the test and burn-in apparatus, and a test method which employs the in-line system are provided. A test and burn-in apparatus for testing semiconductor devices allows various testing processes, including a burn-in process, to be performed at the same testing stage. The apparatus employs test trays which contain the semiconductor devices. These test trays are used throughout the in-line system so that an entire back-end process can be performed without the need for loading / unloading the semiconductor devices into and from device trays between the various tests. The test and burn-in apparatus according to this invention can therefore occupy less space than the prior art testing apparatuses. The in-line system includes multiple test and burn-in apparatuses as well as a single sorting unit which performs a composite sorting operation after all the testing processes have been performed. Furthermore, the method for testing the semiconductor devices in the in-line system includes testing the semiconductor devices in the test trays using the test and burn-in apparatus, generating a test tray map corresponding to results of the test, transferring the test trays to a different testing apparatus for a second testing and test tray map generation process, and finally sorting the semiconductor devices in the sorting unit after all testing processes have been performed based on a final sorting map created by combining the test tray maps of each of the tests. The benefits of this invention are reduced time and space requirements because neither transferring the devices to device trays between tests nor performing multiple sorting steps are required.
