Radiation inserted into body tissue. During interstitial brachytherapy, devices containing radioactive material are placed within body tissue, such as within the breast or prostate. Devices that deliver interstitial radiation into the treatment area include wires, balloons and tiny seeds the size of grains of rice.

After-loading radiotherapy equipment

The utility model relates to after-loading radiotherapy equipment. The after-loading radiotherapy equipment comprises an after-loading radiotherapy device which is used for conveying a stored radioactive source into the body of a target object; the radiotherapy bed comprises a bed plate used for supporting a target object; and the shielding structure is used for sealing the afterloading radiotherapy device and the bed plate in the internal space of the shielding structure so as to prevent radiation of the radioactive source from leaking to the outside. Therefore, the after-loading radiotherapy equipment can be deployed in a small or non-fixed site, and can be quickly deployed.

Preparation method and application of palladium 103 brachytherapy source core

The invention belongs to the technical field of radiopharmaceuticals and medical instruments, and discloses a preparation method and application of a palladium-103 brachytherapy source core. And the source core is composed of graphite particles which are subjected to surface modification treatment and are adsorbed with radionuclide palladium 103. The preparation method comprises the following steps: preparing graphite particles; acidizing and / or activating the graphite particles to introduce oxygen-containing functional groups on the surfaces of the particles and / or form porous structures to obtain surface modified graphite particles; and then mixing the particles with an alkaline solution containing palladium 103, and completing marking through oscillation adsorption. According to the method, the graphite particles are modified, a complex electroplating process is replaced, efficient and uniform adsorption of the palladium 103 is achieved, and the requirement for the purity of the graphite raw material is low. The method is simple in process, low in cost and easy for large-scale production, and the prepared source core is small in self-shielding effect and suitable for preparing brachytherapy devices such as a sealed seed source and an after-loading source.

Brachytherapy device

The disclosure relates to an improved brachytherapy device, methods of preparation, and uses thereof. More particularly, a flexible bioresorbable brachytherapy device is provided for application on a wound site in a subject. The device includes a sealed radioactive source having opposite first and second sides, wherein the sealed radioactive source includes a radioactive component comprising a plurality of radio-isotope particles dispersed within a carrier. A barrier surrounds the radioactive component providing the sealed radioactive source, wherein the barrier functions as a barrier, when implanted at the wound site, providing the sealed radioactive source for at least six half-lives of the plurality of radio-isotope particles. A bioresorbable shield located on the first side of the sealed radioactive source is configured to shield radioactivity when implanted at the wound site for at least six half-lives of the plurality of radio-isotope particles.
