Pivotable child seat for use in a vehicle

The child safety seat includes a seat body that is attached to a base that is held in place by the vehicle seat belt. The base provides for movement of the seat body around at least one axis. A turntable allows the seat body to be rotated from a safe-riding position to face the car door to facilitate positioning the child in the seat or to make it easier to grasp and maneuver a separable child carrier with the child in it. Inadvertent rotation of the turntable is prevented by a locking mechanism that remains engaged until released by the parent or caregiver. In one embodiment, a second axis of movement allows the seat body to be reclined so that the child's head is supported when he or she falls asleep. The reclining adjustment is a motorized motion which can be remotely controlled by the parent or caregiver sitting in the front of the vehicle via wires connected to a remote control.

Dual metal gate process: metals and their silicides

Methods for forming dual-metal gate CMOS transistors are described. An NMOS and a PMOS active area of a semiconductor substrate are separated by isolation regions. A metal layer is deposited over a gate dielectric layer in each active area. Silicon ions are implanted into the metal layer in one active area to form an implanted metal layer which is silicided to form a metal silicide layer. Thereafter, the metal layer and the metal silicide layer are patterned to form a metal gate in one active area and a metal silicide gate in the other active area wherein the active area having the gate with the higher work function is the PMOS active area. Alternatively, both gates may be metal silicide gates wherein the silicon concentrations of the two gates differ. Alternatively, a dummy gate may be formed in each of the active areas and covered with a dielectric layer. The dielectric layer is planarized thereby exposing the dummy gates. The dummy gates are removed leaving gate openings to the semiconductor substrate. A metal layer is deposited over a gate dielectric layer within the gate openings to form metal gates. One or both of the gates are silicon implanted and silicided. The PMOS gate has the higher work function.

Backrest adjusting device for office chairs

A backrest adjusting device for office chairs comprising: a seat portion having a seat cushion and a stand for supporting the seat cushion; a back having a frame, a back cushion fixed on the surface of the frame, a connecting member for connecting the bottom of the back to a rear side of the seat portion, a hollow containing space formed at the middle section of the back, an n-shaped member being disposed in the containing space and extended backward; and a first attaching device installed on the n-shaped member of the containing space, thereby achieving the adjustment of the three-dimensional space of position, longitudinal buffer and angular rotation. Moreover, the back further includes a support member disposed at the top of the back, and a second attaching device installed on the support member and having a structure identical to the first attaching device. Meanwhile, the first attaching device has an attaching body made in compliance with the shape of a human waist to form a backrest bump. Furthermore, the second attaching device has an attaching body made in compliance with the shape of a human head to form a headrest. In this way, the three-dimensional space such as position, height, longitudinal buffer and angular rotation of a backrest or a headrest is adjustable.

Seat back structure of vehicle seat

In a seat back structure, an auxiliary frame having a pressure receiving portion and a headrest mounted thereon is movably provided in seat back frame via guide element and link element. The guide and link elements are respectively disposed in upper and lower portions respectively of the auxiliary and seat back frames. Biasing element is provided to the link element, such that a line of force of the former is positioned on one side of a pivotal point of the link element, thereby retaining the headrest at initial position, and that, when excessive backward load is applied to the pressure receiving portion, the link element is rotated to displace the line of force toward another side of the first pivotal point, whereby the auxiliary frame is displaced forwardly and upwardly of the seat back frame, thereby causing the headrest to move to a position for supporting a head of seat occupant.

Head rest apparatus

The invention provides a head rest apparatus provided with a head rest frame supported to a seat back frame of a seat back via a tilting shaft so as to freely tilt and having an upper side of the tilting shaft to which a head rest is attached, a pressure receiving member provided in a lower side of the tilting shaft in the head rest frame and receiving a load applied from a front surface of the seat back to a backward portion, and an urging member engaging with the seat back frame and the head rest frame and always urging the head rest frame in a backward tilting direction, in which the head rest frame forward tilts around the tilting shaft corresponding to a supporting point and the head rest forward moving when the pressure receiving member is exposed to the load. The urging member is structured such as to urge the head rest frame in the backward tilting direction from a rear portion.

Tilt control mechanism for chair

A chair back is supported on a rigid upright coupled to a horizontal tilt shaft disposed under the front of the chair seat and supported on a control housing fixed to a pedestal. A tension mechanism urges the upright into an upright position. The chair seat is movably supported on the upright by an arrangement which permits the seat to pivot about a transverse horizontal axis positioned adjacent the upper surface of the seat. A control link is pivoted at one end to the control housing, and the other end has lost-motion pivotal connections to the seat frame and the upright. The lost-motion pivotal connection to the seat frame including a spring cooperating between the upright and the seat frame to allow the seat to move relative to the upright.

Articulating headrest assembly

A headrest assembly that is rotatable to various positions includes a support defining a horizontal axis. A shell is rotatably mounted to the support. Notches are disposed on the support, and each notch is associated with one of the positions. A lever is mounted to the shell and has a locking portion rotatable about the pivot axis and partially disposed in one of the notches to prevent movement of the shell. An actuator is mounted to the shell and rotates the locking portion of the lever about a pivot axis in a direction transverse to the horizontal axis. The actuator moves the locking portion out of one of the notches to allow the shell to rotate about the horizontal axis. Furthermore, the actuator moves the locking portion into one of the notches to prevent the shell from rotating about the horizontal axis.
