157 results about "Muscle memory" patented technology

Muscle memory is a form of procedural memory that involves consolidating a specific motor task into memory through repetition, which has been used synonymously with motor learning. When a movement is repeated over time, a long-term muscle memory is created for that task, eventually allowing it to be performed with little to no conscious effort. This process decreases the need for attention and creates maximum efficiency within the motor and memory systems. Examples of muscle memory are found in many everyday activities that become automatic and improve with practice, such as riding a bicycle, typing on a keyboard, entering a PIN, playing a musical instrument, poker, martial arts or even dancing.

Practice drumming pad

A practice drumming provides generally quieter, silent drumming practice for a drummer in combination with a realistic drumkit depiction for better visual cuing and development of muscle memory. The drum pad is constructed of shock absorbing material to dampen the impact of drumsticks and reduce the corresponding noise generated thereby. The drum pad has a non-skid bottom in order to hold it in place on any generally available surface. A realistic depiction of a drumkit or the like is provided on the top of the drum pad. This realistic depiction allows the student to concentrate on playing different drums thereby developing the thought processes necessary for dynamic drumming as well as the muscle memory involved for such dynamic drumming. A pair of drumsticks may accompany the drum pad of the present invention. Additionally, recording media such as an audio CD can provide melodic or rhythmic "grooves" that may be practiced by the student in order to achieve drumming facility. In an alternative embodiment, the drum pad of the present invention may be circular so that it may be placed, with its realistic depiction of a drumkit, upon a single snare drum. This alternative embodiment dampens the impact of drumsticks while allowing the student to practice upon a real drum. In a second alternative embodiment, a snare drum adapter may be used in conjunction with a square or rectangular drum pad to achieve generally the same effect.

The present invention provides for in one embodiment an archery exerciser training device designed to eliminate or minimize target panic, develop muscle memory, and warn up muscles before using a bow and arrow. The training device consists of a cylindrical tube with an attached handle. Within the tube is a gas compression spring with integrated plungers mounted on either end. Each plunger further includes an axle on which two wheels are opposingly mounted. A cable is mounted to one plunger at the distal end of the device and the cable travels in a zig-zag fashion around the four wheels and out of the plunger at the proximal end of the device and terminates in a loop, thereby creating a pulley system. The exposed loop of the cable is pulled in a rearward direction, approximating the motions made when drawing a bowstring. When the exposed loop is pulled, the distal plunger is forced rearward, thereby compressing the gas spring and creating an opposing force approximately equal to a typical draw weight of a bowstring. When the cable is released, the gas spring extends, pushing the distal plunger forward, and pulling the exposed cable back within the cylindrical tube in a safe and controlled manner. The process may be repeated over and over as necessary to sufficiently develop and train the archer's shooting muscles, and to warm up the muscles prior to shooting.
