A system is presented for performing secure transactions, the system including a payment member, such as a payment card, a monitoring device monitoring that the payment member is physically near the monitoring device and a portable communication device, such as a cell phone, used to communicate with a credit card server. The monitoring device checks to see if it can establish a close range communication link with the payment member and the sends information to the credit card server permitting transactions to be completed. The customer associated with and carrying the payment member, the monitoring device and the portable communication device is authenticated using a biometric sensor in the monitoring device.

Embodiments of a switch are described. This switch includes input ports configured to receive signals (which include data) and output ports configured to output the signals. In addition, the switch includes switching elements and a flow-control mechanism, which is configured to provide flow-control information associated with the data to the switching elements via an optical control path. An automatic GPS tracking system is taught that consists of a GPS tracking unit secured to a person or an asset that includes a GPS receiver and a first battery operated a processor and first RF transceiver which emits an RF signal. A home base station receives the RF signal within a pre-selected proximity communication distance. The process of both locating the target device and establishing a link may incorporate the orientation and/or movement of the WCD into the procedure in lieu of the extensive use of traditional menu interfaces. For example, a WCD may recognize a combination of orientation and/or movement changes as a pattern for triggering activities, such as scanning for other devices. Various movement patterns may also be employed to establish a wireless link and for further interaction between users/devices in a user group.

A system and method for impromptu asset tracking. According to one embodiment, information from a first reporting source about a first asset is received. Asset identification information about a second asset is received from the first reporting source. The first reporting source is coupled with the first asset. The asset identification information comprises identification data gathered by the first reporting source on an impromptu basis when the first reporting source is within a transmission range of a proximity communication device coupled with the second asset. A database is populated with the asset identification information such that the asset identification information can be collected from the database.

The invention discloses terminal devices, a wireless fidelity (WIFI) connection method and a system, wherein the WIFI connection method comprises the following steps that a first terminal device establishes near distance communication connection with a second terminal device; the first terminal device receives WIFI connection parameter information from the second terminal device; and the first terminal device establishes WIFI connection with the second terminal device according to the WIFI connection parameter information. According to the technical scheme of terminal devices, the WIFI connection method and the system, the parameter information of the WIFI connection is transmitted through the established near distance communication connection, complex manual operation of the WIFI connection is simplified, and fast WIFI connection between the devices is achieved.

A system for providing information to a magnetic card reader. The system comprises an antenna (in one embodiment comprising a multi-purpose antenna or an antenna module) and a microprocessor for applying a differential signal to the antenna. The differential signal represents data stored in a memory segment of the microprocessor or in a memory connected to the microprocessor. The power transmission coil is configured to be used in a contactless power transmission system. The Device-Under-Test (DUT) is a small transceiver and antenna that operate in the Extremely High-Frequency (EHF) band of 30-300 GHz. The envelope for reception may only extend for about a centimeter from the DUT transceiver, about the same size as the test socket. A slot is formed in the test socket very near to the antenna. The slot receives one end of the plastic waveguide. The slot extends into the envelope by the DUT transceiver so that close-proximity radiation is captured by the plastic waveguide. A semiconductor device package and a method of fabricating the same are disclosed. The semiconductor device package includes a substrate, a buffer structure, two active chips and a bridge chip. The substrate has a cavity, a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The cavity is extended from the first surface toward the second surface, and the buffer structure is disposed in the cavity. The active chips are mechanically disposed on and electrically connected to the first surface and around the cavity, wherein the active chips both have a first active surface. The invention relates to a method, mobile terminal, user side and system for positioning and searching for an object. The method comprises the steps that the mobile terminal searches a preset range for identification information of an anti-lost device though a near field communication module; the mobile terminal sends the found identification information of the anti-lost device and current position information to a cloud server, so that after receiving search information sent by the user side, the cloud server sends the position information of the anti-lost device associated with the user side to the user side. The method, mobile terminal, user side and system for positioning and searching for the object achieve the purpose of rapidly searching for the lost object, and solve the problem that in the prior art, a lost object is difficult to find or even cannot be found.

Techniques for reducing or eliminating the likelihood of fraud in a contactless proximity communications apparatus are provided. The apparatus can include a body portion with a body, a communications circuit, and an antenna. The apparatus can also include a signal-disrupting portion that is mounted for motion, such as rotary or linear motion, with respect to the body portion and configured to substantially disrupt RF signals in a first position, and to move to a second position where RF communication is possible.

Embodiments of a multi-chip module (MCM) are described. This MCM includes a first semiconductor die and a second semiconductor die, where a given semiconductor die, which can be the first semiconductor die or the second semiconductor die, includes proximity connectors proximate to a surface of the given semiconductor die. Moreover, the given semiconductor die is configured to communicate signals with the other semiconductor die via proximity communication through one or more of the proximity connectors. A multiple access Proximity Communication system in which electrical elements on an integrated circuit chip provide the multiplexing of multiple signals to a single electrical receiving element on another chip. Multiple pads formed on one chip and receiving separate signals may be capacitively coupled to one large pad on the other chip. Multiple inductive coils on one chip may be magnetically coupled to one large coil on another chip or inductive coils on three or more chips may be used for either transmitting or receiving. The multiplexing may be based on time, frequency, or code.
