The invention discloses a wire drawing lubricant for an automatic steel and a preparation method thereof. The wire drawing lubricant comprises the following raw materials: a lubricant, a friction reducing assistant, an extreme pressure agent, an antirust agent, sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide, and the weight percentage sum of the lubricant, the friction reducing assistant, the extreme pressure agent, the antirust agent, sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide is 100%. The preparation method of the wire drawing lubricant comprises the following steps: 1, adding the lubricant, the friction reducing assistant and the antirust agent to a container which is provided with a stirrer and a heater, and heating to 75-85DEG C; 2, adding a 30% aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide which is diluted with water, reacting for 30min with thermal insulation; and 3, adding the extreme pressure agent, pouring out after uniformly stirring, carrying out nature drying for 48h, crushing to 100 meshes, and packaging to prepare a finished product. The wire drawing lubricant which is a rapid wire drawing lubricant for the automatic steel needs no pickling, has no pollution and contains no graphite and molybdenum disulfide. The wire drawing lubricant of the present invention has the advantages of good adhesiveness, excellent lubricity, fast drawing speed and the like.
