193 results about "Voice over WLAN" patented technology

Voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN, also VoWi-Fi) is the use of a wireless broadband network according to the IEEE 802.11 standards for the purpose of vocal conversation. In essence, it is voice over IP (VoIP) over a Wi-Fi network. In most cases, the Wi-Fi network and voice components supporting the voice system are privately owned.

Headset-Based Telecommunications Platform

A hands-free wireless wearable GPS enabled video camera and audio-video communications headset, mobile phone and personal media player, capable of real-time two-way and multi-feed wireless voice, data and audio-video streaming, telecommunications, and teleconferencing, coordinated applications, and shared functionality between one or more wirelessly networked headsets or other paired or networked wired or wireless devices and optimized device and data management over multiple wired and wireless network connections. The headset can operate in concert with one or more wired or wireless devices as a paired accessory, as an autonomous hands-free wide area, metro or local area and personal area wireless audio-video communications and multimedia device and / or as a wearable docking station, hot spot and wireless router supporting direct connect multi-device ad-hoc virtual private networking (VPN). The headset has built-in intelligence to choose amongst available network protocols while supporting a variety of onboard, and remote operational controls including a retractable monocular viewfinder display for real time hands-free viewing of captured or received video feed and a duplex data-streaming platform supporting multi-channel communications and optimized data management within the device, within a managed or autonomous federation of devices or other peer-to-peer network configuration.

Octave pulse data method & apparatus

A method for communicating octave pulse signature messages between a wireless virtual transaction terminal and a virtual host system over a wireless telecommunications network that includes a digital traffic channel that transports speech frames and subframes over selected air interface channels, a pulse code modulated circuits that conveys speech frames and subframes through public land mobile networks and publicly switched telecommunications networks. The method comprises compling a communicative message derived from stored conventional alpha numeric characters using conventional human machine interface apparatus, the apparatus may be comprised of personal digital assistant tablet tap screen; generating an octave pulse message at the wireless virtual transaction terminal, the message comprising a plurality of octave pulse resonant signature encoding constructs; and encoding each octave pulse resonant signature with complex harmonic waveforms associated with musical constructs interpreted as musical notation. The method comprises manipulating speech frames and subframes over air interface traffic channels and using pulse code modulated circuits to convey maniupulated speech frames and subframes. Then, a communicative message derived from stored alpha numeric characters is compiled for wireless voice and data communication.

Power management method for creating deliver opportunities in a wireless communication system

A power management method, in which creation of deliver opportunities for a wireless station (STA) of a WLAN system is managed using a designated sub-field of the frame control field in a MAC header. In one embodiment, the STA is adapted (i) to use the power management sub-field to communicate its power state to the access point (AP) and (ii) to run a periodicity timer, which starts when the STA has transitioned to the doze state. The STA transitions to the awake state either when it has a data frame available for transmission to the AP or when the periodicity timer runs out. In another embodiment, the AP and STA create deliver opportunities by entering a new mode of operation referred to as interactive traffic power management (ITPM) mode, during which the power management sub-field is ignored and the more data sub-field is used to communicate the power state and manage transitions of the STA between the awake and doze states. Embodiments of the invention improve WLAN system performance when the traffic load is such that data frames become available for transmission both at the STA and AP at relatively regular intervals, which is typically the case for interactive voice-over-WLAN applications.

Power management method for managing deliver opportunities in a wireless communication system

A power management method, in which duration of deliver opportunities for a wireless station (STA) of a WLAN system is managed using a designated sub-field of the frame control field in a MAC header. Either the STA or the access point (AP) can terminate the deliver opportunity, e.g., based on the amount traffic. In one embodiment, the STA is adapted (i) to use the power management sub-field to communicate its power state to the AP and (ii) to run a maximum-wait timer, which starts when the AP is informed that the STA is in the awake state. The STA transitions to the doze state either when it has received a data frame from the AP or when the maximum-wait timer runs out. In another embodiment, the AP and STA manage deliver opportunities by entering a new mode of operation referred to as interactive traffic power management (ITPM) mode. During this mode the power management sub-field is ignored and the more data sub-field is used to communicate the availability of data and to manage transitions of the STA between the awake and doze states. Embodiments of the invention improve WLAN system performance when the traffic load is such that data frames become available for transmission both at the STA and AP at relatively regular intervals, which is typically the case for interactive voice-over-WLAN applications.
