Online bidding system

An online auction system comprising a preliminary bidding portion and a virtual auction portion is disclosed herein. The preliminary bidding portion allows bidders to access auction items and input bids during a preestablished extended period of time. After the preliminary bidding portion concludes, the virtual auction portion provides bidders the opportunity to input bids on each item consecutively and individually from the preliminary auction portion in a manner similar to a conventional live auction. During the virtual auction portion, bidders are provided with a countdown to encourage further bidding before the previous bid becomes final. After each new bid is inputted, the countdown is reinitiated. The countdown is reinitiated until no new bids are input. An alert system notifies bidders that a particular item of interest is about to be offered for bid as part of the virtual auction portion. The system also provides bidders means for inputting proxy bids.

Storage and processing of ephemeral messages

A server includes volatile and non-volatile memories for storing messages received from a client device. A message reception module of the server stores a message received from a first client device in the volatile memory for an extended time period based on an indicator included in the message. The message reception module deletes the message from the volatile memory based on detection of a triggering event or stores the message in the non-volatile memory based on not detecting the triggering event before the extended time period has expired. The triggering event may include the message having been read by all specified recipients of the message. The indicator may be included in the message based on a relationship of the message to other messages. The message including the indicator may be related to other messages as part of a same conversation that has been determined to be suitable for short-term storage.

Time release multisource marker and method of deployment

The present invention provides time released markers for use with single reservoir and commingled wells. The invention accomplishes the time release of markers by coating or encapsulating marker particles or by coating a proppant which has been saturated with a marker. After coating or encapsulation, the marker is injected into a well as is known in the art. The marker remains in the well. The marker is released after an elapsed of time. The elapsed time can be in a wide range. After the elapsed time, production is taken from the well and tested for the presence of the marker. Various types of known analyses can be performed to test for the presence and concentration of the marker in the production fluid. The concentration of the marker in the production fluid allows the apportioning of production from the reservoir. In addition, different markers may be added to each zone within a reservoir where each marker has a different elapsed time increment. The zones can be any different layer or area in the reservoir such as different strata or layer of rock, limestone or sand. Differing marker combinations allow contribution from different zones to be monitored over an extended time.
