302 results about "Femto base stations" patented technology

A femto base station, usually referred to as a femtocell, provides all that and more. This small wireless device, which improves local wireless coverage when placed in a home or office, is poised to dramatically change the wireless infrastructure landscape.

Interference suppression method of hybrid network of macrocell and Femtocell

The invention discloses an interference suppression method of a hybrid network of macrocell and Femtocell. The method comprises the following steps: the Femtocell in a certain range is clustered; the transmission power of the femto base station in the cluster; the clustering situation of the Femtocell is adjusted; the Femtocell in an interference sensitive area is clustered; for the Femtocell of the clustered interference sensitive area, the transmission power of the femto base station in the cluster is controlled by using the cluster as unit; the clustering situation of the Femtocell in the interference sensitive area is adjusted, the Femtocell cluster in the interference sensitive area is determined; the micro user equipment is divided into a dead zone user equipment and a non-dead zoneuser equipment; spectrum resources are divided into three nonoverlapping parts; and the spectrum resources are distributed for the Femtocell in the interference sensitive area, the dead zone user equipment, the Femtocell in the non-interference sensitive area and the non-dead zone user equipment. By adopting the method of the invention, the spectrum utilization efficiency and system capacity of the overlapped double-layer network of the macrocell and the Femtocell, and the problems of the cross-layer interference between the macrocell and the Femtocell and the same-layer interference of the Femtocell can be effectively solved.

Method for controlling connection configuration by femto base station and method for configuring connection by terminal

Disclosed is a method for controlling connections between a terminal and one or more neighbor base station (BSs) by a serving BS with respect to the terminal. The method for controlling a configuration of connections between a terminal and one or more neighbor BSs includes: receiving, by the serving BS and from a control station, information regarding radio access technologies (RATs) which are supported and have been activated or deactivated by the one or more neighbor BSs from a control station; transmitting an activation request message from the serving BS to the control station in order to activate the radio access technology in the deactivated state if there is a need for activating the deactivated RAT to connect the terminal to the one or more neighbor BSs; receiving, by the serving BS and from the control station, an activation response message including information regarding the neighbor BSs and information regarding the at least one specific radio access technology which is activated according to the activation request message; and transmitting a connection request message from the serving BS to the terminal to allow the terminal to be connected to the one or more BSs according to the one or more activated radio access technologies using the at least one specific RAT.

Providing location information

A method of providing location information to a network application, a location server, a method of providing a trigger notification, a femto base station and a computer program product are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: receiving details of a triggering event which is to be notified to the network application, the triggering event being a registration of user equipment with a predetermined femto cell of the wireless telecommunications network; providing triggering information indicative of the triggering event to that femto base station providing wireless communications coverage to the predetermined femto cell to cause that femto base station to provide a trigger notification indicating when the triggering event occurs; and in response to receipt of the trigger notification from the femto base station, providing location information to the network application, the location information providing the network application with an indication of the user equipment Femtocell and the predetermined femto cell, together with an indication of when the triggering event occurred. This enables the movement of user equipment into specific locations to be detected and provided to network application efficiently, without any subsequent location determination processing having to occur, which provides a low-power, scalable, accurate and non- invasive approach requiring no modification of user equipment.
