The invention relates to the field of
plant genetic engineering, in particular to an MMR1
protein for regulating and controlling ROS
homeostasis of a
plant root tip meristematic region as well as a coding
gene and application of the MMR1
protein. The method comprises the following steps: knocking out an MMR1
gene to obtain stable
transgenic lines mmr1-1 and mmr1-2 of
arabidopsis thaliana, and constructing an MMR1
gene complement line and an MMRI gene overexpression line; compared with a
wild type, the mutants mmr1-1 and mmr1-2 show that the
root length is shortened, the
root tip meristematic region is shortened, and the
root tip division capability is weakened; the back-complemented strain shows that the MMR1
protein is positioned in mitochondria; the root of an overexpressed strain is longer than that of a
wild type, which shows that the MMR1 gene plays an important role in the root elongation of
arabidopsis thaliana, the development of a root tip meristematic zone and the
cell viability of the root tip meristematic zone. According to the invention, the blank in the field of mitochondrial localization
protein regulation and control of root development and ROS
homeostasis is filled up, and a new genetic gene resource is provided for root improvement and transgenic breeding.
