System and method for using network layer uniform resource locator routing to locate the closest server carrying specific content

A request for an information object at an address identified by a uniform resource locator (URL) is received; and the URL is mapped to a corresponding anycast address for the information object. Thereafter, the anycast address for the information object may be resolved to a unicast address for the information object, and the information object sent to the client. The request may be received at an information object repository that is topologically closer to the client than any other information object repository. This closest information object repository may be selected according to specified performance metrics, such as: average delay from the selected information object repository to a source of the request, average processing delay at the selected information object repository, reliability of a path from the selected information object repository, available bandwidth in said path, and loads on the selected information object repository.

Sliding window block codes for cross-packet coding

A block-code-based structure that allows cross-packet coding of data using a sliding window. In this structure, each transmitted packet contains both information symbols and parity symbols generated by the information in previous packets. This code structure allows a receiver to recover lost packets without additional transmissions. If enough packets have been lost so that the receiver cannot recover one or more of them, new parity symbols can be generated and transmitted as additional packets. The parity symbols in these additional packets may be used by multiple receivers. Thus, the sliding window block code reduces retransmission overhead, particularly for multicast applications. Furthermore, the sliding window structure does not produce an encoding delay between the arrival of data and its transmission and reduces the decoding delay between the loss of a packet and its recovery.

A method and a file format transformation system (FFTS) for transforming marked-up content in a first file format (FFF) to a second file format (SFF) that enables automated browser based pagination are provided. The FFTS reflows marked-up content of the FFF into a continuous page. The FFTS generates and appends tags to spaces and block elements identified in the reflown marked-up content of the FFF. For each space and block element, the FFTS determines and tags line breaks in the reflown marked-up content. For each line break, the FFTS identifies, tags, and positions anchored floats and footnotes on a current page based on space availability. The FFTS positions page breaks in the continuous page based on a configurable page height and the line breaks. The FFTS groups the marked-up content, inserts pagination elements and renders the grouped marked-up content in the SFF based on a selected level of reversibility.

Bandwidth reduction in video conference group sessions

Any number of computers join a session of an online video conference facilitated by a server of a central computer. Each computer sends to the server participant metadata including a role for each computer (e.g., "tutor" or "student") and streaming information to facilitate streaming between other computers. The server sends the participant metadata to all other computers in the session. A computer decides to subscribe to a video stream of another computer only if that other computer has a role of "tutor." The tutor computer subscribes to video streams from all student computers. A peer-to-peer communication platform such as WebRTC facilitates communications between computers but does not pass any video or audio streams via the central computer. The tutor computer subscribes to students who are speaking. A student computer subscribes to a video stream from another student computer if the download and upload speeds respectively are above a certain threshold.

Apparatus and method for fast correct resolution of call and return instructions using multiple call/return stacks in the presence of speculative conditional instruction execution in a pipelined microprocessor

A microprocessor having a plurality of call / return stacks (CRS) correctly resolves a call or return instruction rather than issuing the instruction to execution units of the microprocessor to be resolved. The microprocessor fetches a call or return instruction and determines whether the instruction is the first call or return instruction fetched after fetching a conditional branch instruction that has yet to be resolved. The microprocessor copies the contents of a current CRS to another CRS and designates the other CRS as the current CRS, if the state exists. The microprocessor pushes the address of the next sequential instruction following the call instruction onto the current CRS and fetches an instruction at the call instruction target address if the instruction is a call instruction. The microprocessor pops a second return address from the current CRS and fetches an instruction at the second return address, if the instruction is a return instruction.

Parallel forward path cartesian feedback loop and loop filter with switchable order for cartesian feedback loops

A communication device having an RF power amplifier stage with a Cartesian feedback loop is provided. The loop has forward paths whose outputs are combined to form an output signal that is fed back to a single feedback path. Each forward path has a common path with a filter that filters the overall loop response and a unique split path. The main and auxiliary split paths have a power amplifier and carry signals respectively of lower and higher frequencies. The auxiliary amplifier is faster than the main amplifier. Different phases of the carrier signal are used during upconversion such that the overall phase response through the split paths is equal. Instability recovery problems introduced by higher-order loop filters are mitigated by baseband loop filters with switchable order. Upon detecting instability, the loop filter order is reduced and is subsequently increased after eliminating the unstable operation.
