Abstract

The present invention relates to an usnic acid photodegradation product and an application thereof in preparation of drugs, cosmetics or health-care products resistant to ultraviolet radiation. Lightenergy is used to accelerate degradation of usnic acid and 5 compounds, including 2 new compounds and 3 known compounds are successfully isolated and purified. Subsequently, human normal hepatocytes,human epidermal melanocytes and human epidermal keratinocytes are used as main experiment subjects to evaluate effects of the usnic acid and degradation products thereof on cell viability and protection against ultraviolet irradiation. Results show that cytotoxicity of the degradation products is lower than that of the usnic acid, the usic acid and the degradation products thereof have the ultraviolet radiation protection effects on the above types of cells, and some of the usnic acid photodegradation products have stronger protection effect against the ultraviolet radiation for cells than theusnic acid.
