A method is provided for treatment of cataract in combination with a glaucoma procedure while maintaining the intraocular pressure by permitting aqueous to flow out of an anterior chamber of the eye through a surgically stented pathway. A trabecular stent is adapted for implantation within the trabecular meshwork of an eye such that intraocular liquid flows controllably from the anterior chamber of the eye to Schlemm's canal, bypassing the trabecular meshwork. A first tube (3) and second tube (7) for guiding aqueous humor to the exterior of the eye are connected to each other in the vicinity of a surface of conjunctiva (14) via a first joint (5) and second joint (6). Described herein is a device for glaucoma treatment and monitoring that comprises a combination of an intraocular pressure (IOP) sensor and a glaucoma drainage device. The device comprises an IOP sensor and an inductive antenna mounted within a porous biocompatible material that forms the drainage path. The shunt can be tapered for preventing an unacceptable degree of intrusion of the shunt into the anterior portion of the eye. The trailing edge portion of the shunt is wide relative to other portions of the shunt, thereby facilitating grasping of the shunt when desired.
