Method of and system for thermally augmented wound care oxygenation

An oxygenation and temperature thermal therapy and oxygenation treatment pad with a plurality of air chambers is disclosed for treatment of skin wound tissues. The air chambers are filled and released by a valve assembly that may be separate from or integrated within the blanket. The thermal therapy and oxygenation treatment pad includes a fluid bladder for delivering hot and / or cold therapy to a patient in conjunction with oxygenation. The temperature therapy blanket may also include an air bladder for providing compression. Oxygenation is provided subsequent to initial heating in order to promote oxygen absorption by the wound tissues prior to the cooling thereof which facilitates pulling oxygen into the wound tissues. This Abstract is provided to comply with rules requiring an Abstract that allows a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain subject matter of the technical disclosure. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. 37 CFR 1.72(b).

Surgical insertion tool

A tool is provided for facilitating determining a proper location for an implantable device or medication, and for then delivering the implant to the precise location determined with the tool. To determine the target location, the tool may include a component for testing target locations, such as a stimulating probe for simulating a miniature implantable stimulator. In one embodiment, the tool is used to test a miniature implantable stimulator prior to depositing the implant precisely at the target location. The components of the tool are configured to maintain the implant at the target location while the tool is withdrawn. In one embodiment, a push rod assembly of the tool keeps the implant in position while it retracts the implant holder from around the implant. The ergonomic and light-weight tool leads to reduced surgical time, number and size of incisions, risk of infection, and likelihood of error.

Continuous adhesive bandage roll for cutting into desired lengths

InactiveUS20060161088A1Facilitates adhesionEasy to useBandagesEngineeringMechanical engineering
An adhesive bandage formed in a continuous roll is provided for cutting into desired lengths depending upon the length of the wound. A base strip preferably of elastic material has a base adhesive layer on the inside surface of the base adhesive layer. A barrier layer, which is not as wide as the base layer is affixed to the base layer by the base adhesive layer. The barrier layer permits the passage of air and prevents the passage of fluids. A gauze adhesive layer is placed on the barrier layer and a gauze strip is placed on the barrier layer. The gauze strip is essentially of the same width as the barrier strip but the gauze strip is cut into gauze sections, preferably about fifteen millimeters being by cuts generally at right angles to the side edges of the gauze strip. Each gauze section is removable to expose the gauze adhesive layer on the barrier strip to permit securing the bandage to be secured about a wound.
