One embodiment of the invention includes a method for managing a streaming media service. The method includes receiving a request for a streaming media service from a client. The streaming media service includes a plurality of media services components. Additionally, the method includes determining which media service component of the plurality of media services components to assign to a service node of a plurality of service nodes of a network. The method also includes informing each service node assigned to perform a media service component of the plurality of media services components enabling the streaming media service to be performed on a streaming media.

A system and method for monitoring service performance are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises: (a) collecting service information from one or more sources in a telecommunications network; (b) converting the service information into values of primary parameters of a service model; and (c) calculating values of secondary parameters of the service model from the primary parameter values, wherein the calculating is performed using relational database tables based on calculation clusters. The ESG fragment may have associated metadata in which information, pertaining to the interaction service component of the event or program, such as a pointer associated with a previously-defined template used for the service, may be mapped. The subscriber terminal or receiver can parse the ESG fragment data to determine attributes for displaying a message template associated with the interaction service component of the event or program. Subscriber interaction with the program can be provided through the message template.

The system, as embodied in a mobile terminal device, comprises a mobile communications component that communicates wireless signals, and a location services component embodied in the mobile communication component to provide positioning information. In various embodiments, the results are presented on a timeline and may be grouped together by domains and sorted by the time that the results were obtained. A search history view may also be viewed that includes search results sorted chronologically each of which is represented graphically by an icon that represents the category of each search. When a user utters a voice command, the text representation is displayed together with an edit button, a resay button, and a progress bar. A physical service and policy model of a service-oriented architecture system is generated from a logic model. Web service policies are transformed from the logical model to the physical model. The logical model includes a plurality of logical service components and logical dependency relationships among the logical service components. At least one of the logical service components has been specified with logical policies. The physical model includes physical components and physical dependency relationships associated with the service components and tire logical dependency relationships among the service components in the logical model. Two additional structures for addition to the Digital Video Broadcasters (DVB) Service Information (SI) for implementation of the MPEG-2 Systems Standard (ISO/IEC 13818-1) are provided: the Logical Channel Table (LCT) and the Composite Channel Table (CCT). The LCT provides the mapping between a Logical Channel Number (LCN) representing a service and the transport stream(TSID)/program number (PN) on which the service can be found. LCT entries may designate either simple conventional channels or Composite Channels. The LCT contains a Composite Channel Indicator (CCI), which when set to "1', indicates that the selected channel is a composite channel. In this case, the LCT entry gives the home channel of the Composite Channel, which provides the CCT to the decoder so that the tuner can be retuned to the actual program designated in the CCT for current viewing. Each entry in the CCT associates a Composite Channel Number (CCN) with a LCN and represents the "present" definition for the composite channel. A simple LCN is used as a key to the LCT to determine the transport stream ID and program number (PN) for the service components in the usual way. As time progresses, the entry for a specific CCN will change; therefore, the CCN is used as a "pointer" to the LCN which is the currently active service for the composite channel. These tables work with conventional MPEG-2 service definitions to decode multi-service transport streams.
