Method and apparatus for configurable data collection on a computer network

The invention facilitates improved configuration of computer network data collection. In one respect, the invention is a method for determining a network data collection configuration for an entity utilizing a computer network. The method determines which nodes in the network are associated with the entity, reads a view definition associated with the entity and determines which network variables are components of the health score, selects from the nodes associated with the entity those nodes that are components of the view, and produces a configuration file that specifies the network variables for each corresponding selected node. The data collection preferably utilizes the SNMP protocol. The determining step preferably queries a database that stores entity-node associations. The view definition is preferably an XML file and refers to all nodes of a particular device type, so that the selecting step can filter network nodes by device type. In a preferred form, the network is the Internet, the method is performed by an Internet service provider, and the entity is a customer of the Internet service provider. Optionally, the method reads and utilizes a template for the configuration file. In another respect, the invention is an apparatus. The apparatus comprises a first database that stores entity-node associations, a view definition associated with an entity, a second database that stores node device type information, and a network data collection configuration generation tool, connected to the above. The network data collection configuration generation tool generates a network data collection configuration file customized to the view definition.

The invention relates to a server performance index evaluation method for a container bearing service application. The server performance index evaluation method is characterized by comprising the following steps of: (1), establishing a server performance index evaluation system for the container bearing service application; (2), obtaining evaluation index data of a server CPU, the memory capacity and a hard disk I/O from a pseudo-file system in real time; (3), calculating a server health score; (4), when any score in the three evaluation index data or the server health score is greater than 80 for a long time, prompting a system administrator to pay attention to the operation state of a server; (5), displaying statistical data of the three valuation indexes of a host system, the server health score and alarm information; (6), according to the score and the container operation score, finding out a lot of containers consuming system resources and determining whether the containers are eliminated or not by the system administrator; and (7), repeating the process. By means of the server performance index evaluation method disclosed by the invention, real-time state monitoring of process quota and resource overhead of the container bearing service application can be realized.

A system for generating measurable indexes for providing a total wellness assessment of an individual is provided. The system can include a data communications interface for accessing a plurality of databases of population data derived from samplings of one or more populations. The system further can include an integration and synthesis engine for generating a plurality of weighting factors based upon a predetermined combination of the data, each weighting factor corresponding to a predetermined body region of the individual or to a predetermined health condition associated with the individual and based upon the population data. The system also can include a conditions capture engine for capturing individual-specific data corresponding to a set of predetermined of health conditions associated with the individual. The system can further include a modeling tool for combining at least one of the plurality of weighting factors with the individual-specific data corresponding to a set of predetermined of health conditions associated with the individual. Moreover, the system can include a quotient generator for generating an individual-specific overall health score corresponding to the individual based on the combining of weighting factors, population data, and individual-specific data.
