52 results about "Internet Connection Sharing" patented technology

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is a Windows service that enables one Internet-connected computer to share its Internet connection with other computers on a local area network (LAN). The computer that shares its Internet connection serves a gateway device, meaning that all traffic between other computers and the Internet go through this computer. ICS provides Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and network address translation (NAT) services for the LAN computers.

Provisioning remote access points

Provisioning remote access points for use in a telecommunication network. A remote access point contains identity information established during manufacturing; this identity information may be in the nature of a digital certificate. The identity information is stored in the remote access point, and may be stored in a Trusted Platform Module if present. When the remote access node is powered up in unprovisioned state, outside the manufacturing environment, it attempts to establish an internet connection via a first wired interface, and queries a user for information representing the TCP/IP address of its controller via a second wired interface. Once an internet connection is present, and a TCP/IP address has been provided, the remote access point attempts to connect to the controller at that address. The controller may filter connection requests through a whitelist of approved remote access points. Once a connection is established, controller and access point exchange and verify each other's identities. This may be done through the exchange and verification of digital certificates. Provisioning information is downloaded from controller to remote access point and installed. This may be done via a tunnel such as an encrypted tunnel. Software updates may be applied. The provisioned remote access point is placed in operation.

Process for monitoring, filtering and caching internet connections

A one-box system and process for controlling Internet usage by users on a network. The system controls usage by combining two or more of the following functions into a single operating unit: 1) monitoring and logging internet access on a user and/or work station basis; 2) preventing or authorizing access on a user and/or work station basis to ULR's (or groups of URL's) that have been previously designated an inappropriate or appropriate, respectively, for that user or work station; 3) preventing or authorizing the downloading of files with any pre-designated file extension to any user or workstation; 4) blocking of peer-to-peer access of any pre-designated Internet file-sharing or other service (such as Kazaa, RealPlayer, AOL Instant Messaging, etc); 5) periodically or immediately alerting a designated representative of the attempt by any user or work station to access of pre-determined inappropriate site or file; 6) allowing remote review of the Internet activity log for any user by anyone (such as a student's parents) with knowledge of that user's log-in information (i.e., name and password); and 7) caching downloaded Internet objects for subsequent in-network retrieval. The system and process of this invention can also be configured to perform the traditional firewall function as well.

The invention discloses a power control based fast convergence adaptive method in an internet connection sharing (ICS) repeater. The method has the following advantage: an adjustable attenuator is installed behind a power amplifier of the repeater to control the output power. A power adjusting process comprises the following steps: (1) in the initial phase of echo cancellation, maintaining the attenuation value of the attenuator at the maximum betamax; (2) after maintaining the attenuation value at the maximum betamax for T1, gradually reducing the attenuation value, and adjusting the attenuation value by the attenuator once every T; and (3) when the attenuation value of the attenuator is adjusted to the minimum betamin, causing the power output of the repeater the reach the maximum and the system to enter into the stable working state. By the method disclosed by the invention, the transmitting power control technology can be introduced into the digital terrestrial television repeater, and is combined with the adaptive echo interference suppression technology, thus improving the convergence speed of the adaptive echo interference algorithm and effectively reducing the self-excitation risk of the repeater.

Control method and system for device without requirement for Internet connection

A control method and system for a device without the requirement for Internet connection relate to the technical field of startup of self-services, automatic vending and entertainment devices. The control system consists of the device, a mobile terminal, and a background system. The device comprises a device main body (1), a device identification display module (2), an authentication input module (3), a calculation module (4), an authentication module (5), a control module (6), and a synchronization module (7), wherein the device identification display module (2), the authentication input module (3), the calculation module (4), the authentication module (5), the control module (6) and the synchronization module (7) are respectively integrated and arranged in the device main body (1), and the mobile terminal is an intelligent handheld terminal (8). According to the control method and system for the device without the requirement for Internet connection, the mobile terminal only needs to communicate with the background by the network and the device does not need to be kept in connection with the network, so that not only can the advantages of convenience of the mobile Internet be sufficiently utilized, but also the manufacturing cost of the device is reduced and meanwhile, the subsequent maintenance pressure is reduced.
