The present invention relates to a patient care and communication system which utilizes a central processing system and a plurality of remote stations electrically connected to the central processing system to facilitate visual and data communications. Each remote station includes telephone circuitry which is connected to a private branch exchange for telephone communications between stations. In addition, the private branch exchange is connected to a telephone exchange and a plurality of telephones for facilitating telephone communication therebetween. The central processing system facilitates the visual and data communications between the plurality of remote stations, and includes a system for determining which of the plurality of remote stations are transmitting the visual and data communications and which of the plurality of remote stations are to receive the visual and data communications. The central processing system also includes a system which establishes a communication link between the transmitting stations and the receiving stations. The remote stations include a processing system which also facilitates the visual, data and telephone communications and a display for displaying the visual communications. The present invention also includes a staff and/or patient locator system, in which each remote station includes an infrared receiver that receives infrared transmissions from a portable transmitter worn by a staff member or patient. The infrared transmissions include identity information associated with the person wearing the transmitter. The identity information is then transferred to the central processing system which determines the identity and location of each person wearing a portable transmitter.

A method is for selecting at least one additional service in a mobile telephone or mobile equipment having a keyboard for dialing a number to set up a telephone communication. The at least one additional service may be provided by an Integrated Circuit (IC) Card in the mobile equipment. The method may include comparing a dialed number with at least one service number stored in the IC Card and associated to the at least one additional service, terminating the set up of the telephone communication, and triggering the associated additional service corresponding to the dialed number.

The system and its operating method routes an incoming call to a first recipient, and if the first recipient does not answer, then routes the call to a second recipient (or more) based on a predetermined user profile and/or user overflow group. The server retrieves an overflow group profile, consisting of a plurality user profiles, associated with the called device, determines how to route the call, and initiates a call to the user and/or overflow group members according to how the call should be routed. An integrated security control system and method which integrate the functions of a wireless security system control panel and a radio transceiver in an integrated security control system unit. The integrated control unit includes a first telephone communication system for communicating security system data by wired telephone communications, and a second radio frequency (RF) cellular communication system for communicating security system data by communications through an RF communication network. The cellular communication system is the primary communication network for reporting a security event, thereby leaving the first telephone communication system open for telephone communications during the reporting of a security event. A separate unit of the security system, such as a wireless RF status display or a wireless RF keypad, is provided with a beeper transducer for sounding entry and exit beeps. The separate unit is positioned at a separate location from the integrated security control system unit, such that the entry beeps do not alert an entering person to the location of the integrated security control system unit. When a security event is triggered, the control unit delays activating a security alarm sounder in the control unit until after the second RF communication system has finished transmitting the alarm message.

The present invention takes advantage of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology by introducing VoIP-based call center telephony equipment that is software-based and runs on inexpensive off-the-shelf personal computer (PC) systems. These systems and methods record an audio file corresponding to a voice message being left by a user during an outgoing telephone call to a recipient, link the audio file to contact information associated with the recipient, and provide the user access to the audio file through, for example, playback of the audio included in the file. These systems and methods may be implemented through individual communications devices, such as an iPhone, through a telephone communications provider, or a combination of the same.

An interactive assistant for managing telephone communications and services is disclosed. In one of many possible method embodiments, a chat interface is provided to a device associated with an intended recipient of an incoming voice call. A chat message from the intended recipient is received through the chat interface. The chat message is presented to a calling party associated with the incoming call prior to a disposition of the call being determined. In other embodiments, an interface provides controls for individually managing calls on a conference call, without affecting other calls on the conference call.

A system and method for the detection of an intruder in an area under construction is disclosed. The self-contained portable deterrent alarm system includes a plurality of means for detecting an intruder and broadcasting at least one of an audible siren or audible voice alarm. The system and method further include, in response to receiving a triggering signal, establishing a telephone communication to a monitoring center to report an intrusion at the construction site. The system is adapted for quick install, removal and relocation to an alternate construction area.

A system and method of call-routing and caller-screening that employs voice recognition to automatically recognize a caller's voice and then screen a caller, if appropriate; all without forcing the caller to identity himself/herself, which may be perceived as rude or offensive by some callers. Instead, a synthesized voice automatically asks the caller to identify who the caller wishes to speak with. Caller's response to this query is used to identify the callee as well as to optionally identify the caller. Thus, the screening of the caller takes place in a manner that the caller perceives as a more natural way of telephone communication. Caller's speech is used to generate digital voice samples therefrom and the caller's voice samples are directly compared with other voice samples stored in a database without converting the voice samples into digital text files. Present methodology is particularly useful when it is desired to limit one or more caller's direct access to the called party as well as to identify a caller before the called party wishes to proceed with the call. An access gateway coupled to a Softswitch in a telephone communication system for establishing a Push-to-Talk channel between an originator and at least one destinator. The access gateway identifies an address of each destinator, and conveys respective DNRs of the originator and each destinator to the Softswitch for allowing the Softswitch to verify that the DNRs correspond to Push-to-Talk enabled telephones and that the originator is registered to establish a Push-to-Talk channel with each of the destinators. If so, the access gateway invokes an instruction received from the Softswitch to activate a speaker coupled to each of the destinators and establish a uni-directional voice channel from the originator to each of the destinators upon the destinators going off-hook. Destinators may complete the call for establishing a two-way voice channel to the originator. Enhanced telephones include Push-to-Talk facility, while existing telephones may be upgraded using an adapter.

The telephone communication method of the invention is a method of providing the communication terminal with one or more pieces of advertisement information via a telephone network. This method obtains a plurality of pieces of advertisement information from an advertiser terminal prior to provision of the advertisement information on one hand, and obtains user-related information from the user's communication terminal as a retrieval condition for retrieval of the advertisement information on the other hand. A method and system for web site navigation utilize an internet browser for navigating a plurality of web pages that are configured by a web server. The plurality of web pages are linked as a first set of web pages and linked as at least a second set of web pages. A jump control section is provided on a navigation bar to the user to provide a visual indication of a total number of the first set of linked web pages. The jump control section also provides a jump box and a jump control button which allow the user to immediately jump to any page within the web site. The jump page box displays the current page number when not activated by the user. The navigation bar also includes a strolling control section that permits the user to stroll through a subset of related web pages, identified as the second set, without requiring the user to reload a web site directory page. The strolling control section also provides a visual indication of the total number of web pages within the subset and the current page number within the subset. A status location indicator is also provided on the navigation bar to indicate a text name of the currently displayed subset. The user may conduct telephone communication with a web site guide, such as a web site help desk, and immediately jump to a desired web page by way of the jump control section without the need to navigate a complicated hierarchy of web pages and hyperlinks.

The method comprises that: navigation equipment on a vehicle participating in the driving tour is registered in a database of the navigation center; the navigation center saves and forwards team information of a leader vehicle; the navigation center allows team member vehicles to join the team; the navigation center provides the team member vehicle information for the leader vehicle; the navigation center navigates each member vehicle of the team according to the specified route in the team information and transmits the position information of each member vehicle of the team; and each member vehicle of the team self-checks the fall-off condition according to the position information. By providing synchronous information interaction for the leader vehicle and each member vehicle in the driving tour team by the navigation center through a mobile communication network, the problems that the leader and each member perform one-to-one telephone contact in the driving tour team, that the leader has high telephone communication traffic and that a lot of time of the leader is taken up are solved.
