The present disclosure pertains to cardiac pacing methods and systems, and, more particularly, to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). In particular, the present disclosure pertains to determining whether a patient is experiencing atrial fibrillation (AF). If the patient is experiencing AF, the efficacy of CRT is determined. A signal is sensed in response to a ventricular pacing stimulus. Through signal processing, a number of features are parsed from the signal and a determination is made as to whether the ventricular pacing stimulus evoked a response from the ventricle.

The system includes a wearable device having a housing to be worn by an operator, a memory device, a sensor configured to output a motion signal corresponding to motion of the operator, an output device configured to output an operator alert in response to a determination of unacceptable motion of the operator, and a processor configured to: receive a plurality of output motion signals at a sampling rate; convert the output motion signals into a plurality of data points; analyze the data points to identify a pace at which the operator is walking; calculate a pace rate of the operator based on the identified pace; and cause the output device to output the operator alert in response to the pace rate exceeding a predetermined rate threshold corresponding to unacceptable motion of the operator.
