Method and apparatus for quantifying nerve and neural-muscular integrity related to pelvic organs or pelvic floor functions

The present invention is a method and apparatus for quantifying nerve and neural-muscular integrity related to pelvic organs or pelvic floor functions. In one embodiment, the invention is a method and device to measure muscle or nerve activity in the pelvis or pelvic floor. In a modification of this embodiment, the invention includes means for inducing an efferent nerve signal in the spinal cord or sacral nerves and then measuring the resulting nerve activity of the nerves of the pelvic floor region. In a preferred embodiment, the invention includes placing a probe in the anal canal or vagina, the probe having proximal recording electrodes along its outer surface. In one possible embodiment, the probe has a distensible sheath having recording electrodes located on its outside surface. In another embodiment, the probe has an inflatable balloon at its distal end with recording electrodes located on the outside surface of the inflatable balloon. In a further embodiment, the proximal recording electrodes will be located on the outside of the distal end of the probe itself. In yet another embodiment, a disk having recording electrodes is placed in the rectum in contact with the tissue above the submucous space. In yet another embodiment of the invention, an essentially “C” shaped clip is provided having a core made of a spring-like material.

Apparatus For Examining and Curing Urinary Incontinence, and For Exercising Bio-Feedback of Women Vagina Muscles

An apparatus for examining and curing urinary incontinence and exercising the pelvic floor muscles and vaginal muscles using bio-feedback including a controller main body, a probe, and a bio-feedback device. The probe includes: an insert frame extending in a longitudinal direction thereof, an insert expansion part surrounding adjacent to a front end of the insert frame and expandable therearound; an air supply path connected to the interior of the insert expansion part to supply air; a handle engaged with the insert frame; a fixing means for fixing the insert expansion part to the insert frame or the handle; a valve installed at the air supply path; and a PTC ceramic heater and a vibration motor installed at the insert frame. An elastic member includes a magnet, an insertion depth adjustment part, and leg support parts installed at the insertion depth adjustment part. The bio-feedback device includes a sound generating means, and an image display means. The main body includes a controller for controlling each component, a motorized air pump, an air flow detection sensor, a pressure detection sensor, a spring air cylinder, a solenoid air injection valve, an air tank, etc. Therefore, it is possible for a user to readily perform examination and treatment of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor muscle (vagina muscle) reinforcement exercise using bio-feedback.

Smart apparatus forrehabilitation training of pelvic floor muscles and method for using the same

The invention discloses a smart apparatus for rehabilitation training of pelvic floor muscles and a method for using the same. According to the invention, an EMG electrode slice acquires an electromyographic signal of the pelvic floor muscles, and the electromyographic signal is transmitted to an electromyographic amplifying circuit via a signal line. The electromyographic amplifying circuit is connected to an MCU via an AD sampling circuit. The MCU communicates with a mobile smart terminal via a wireless communication module. The mobile smart terminal is used for displaying a sampling result and sending a stimulation instruction. The MCU receives the instruction sent by the mobile smart terminal via the wireless communication module and controls an electrical stimulation circuit to send a stimulation pulse current. The electrical stimulation circuit is connected to an STIM electrode slice via the signal line and provides neural muscle electrical stimulation to the pelvic floor muscles. The invention also discloses the method for using the apparatus in the rehabilitation training of pelvic floor muscles. The apparatus herein is small in size and low in cost. The apparatus uses data processing function and displaying function of the mobile smart terminal in biological feedback training and neuromuscular electrical stimulation of pelvic floor muscles, which facilitates patients in the rehabilitation training of pelvic floor muscles at home.

Exercise for the muscles of the pelvic floor

An exercise device for strengthening the muscles of the pelvis, particularly the collective group of muscles involved in human sexual response, which are also important for controlling the evacuation of the intestines and the bladder. This exercise device focuses on increasing the strength, tone and endurance of these muscles. The device comprises a longitudinally extending member that includes a blunt head portion and a compressible shaft portion. The first end of the shaft portion is juxtaposed with the head portion. The first end of the shaft portion has an outwardly extending retaining slope formed thereon, particularly when the device is received within a pelvic body cavity and the muscles of the pelvic floor are at rest. The retaining slope is engageable with the retaining edge of the adjacent pelvic floor muscle platform of that pelvic body cavity to facilitate intracorporal retention within the pelvic body cavity. The compressible shaft is actively functional in creating resistance to contraction of the pelvic floor muscle platform, thereby causing the work necessary for muscle development. The second end of the shaft portion has an outwardly extending slope formed thereon. When the device is inserted into a pelvic body cavity, this outwardly extending slope is engageable with the body tissue that is adjacent to the orifice into the pelvic body cavity to prevent over insertion of the member.
