Reusable paint grenade

A reusable paint dispersing grenade of the type employed in paint ball games is constructed in such a manner as to avoid the use of any combustible materials, and also to avoid the requirement for access to a source of compressed air for operation. The paint grenade of the invention has a hollow, fluid-tight casing defining an enclosed cavity that is divided internally into a marking paint chamber, a first propellant component chamber, and a second propellant component chamber. The propellant component chambers are each filled separately with propellant components, but remain isolated from each other until the paint dispersing grenade is used. At that time the propellant components chemically react with each other in a noncombustible manner to produce a quantity of gas under pressure. The expanding gas produced by the chemical reaction builds to a pressure sufficient to break a paint seal in the casing or a gas seal initially separating the gas from the paint, whereupon the gas under pressure forces the paint out through one or more paint expulsion ports. The device may be recharged with marking paint and the chemically reactive propellant components any number of times.

Flash-bang grenade with greater flash intensity

InactiveUS8161883B1More controlled subsonic deflagrate flash-bangHigh level of energetic reactionAmmunition projectilesHand grenadesAluminiumEngineering
A safer flash-bang grenade that yields the state of the art sound intensity, plus a brighter, more intense flash of the order of 13.5 million candela—which effect is due to a combination of a particularly efficacious pyrotechnic formulation and a particular reaction chamber design that momentarily retains or holds-back the reaction escape until the desired intensity is reached. The particular pyrotechnic formulation is based upon a strontium nitrate oxidizer in conjunction with an aluminum powder metallic fuel and a sulfur non-metallic fuel. The particular reaction chamber design includes a relatively rigid, non-fragmenting charge holder, with a slip-fit thin aluminum sleeve internal thereof and a shrink fit or other sealed sleeve external thereof.

Low Shrapnel Door Breaching Projectile System

A modified 40 mm grenade round designed to breach doors without throwing a significant amount of shrapnel into a building's interior or back toward the shooter. The modified round includes a forward extension on the ogive. The extension is rigidly connected to a thrust column which transmits an impact load directly from the ogive's nose cap to the striker on the fuse assembly. This configuration detonates the explosive charge within the projectile while the explosive is still well outside the door. This early detonation throws a pressure wave again the door's exterior, forcing the door inward.

Diversionary grenade having watertight seal

A grenade is defined by a body made from a rubberized material, the body including a hollow interior and a stem section. A cap is releasably secured to the stem section, the cap retaining a fuze assembly which is threadingly engaged therewith. The grenade is equipped with an ejection charge that causes said cap and said fuze assembly to be separated from said body prior to detonation of the grenade. A hydrophobic sealing layer applied to the exterior of the stem section and cap provides a watertight seal relative to the interior of the grenade, but without substantially interfering with the ejection of said cap and fuze assembly.

Door breaching projectile system

A modified 40 mm grenade round designed to breach doors without throwing a substantial amount of shrapnel into a building's interior. The modified round includes a standoff device located on its forward end. The standoff device detonates the explosive charge within the projectile before the nose of the projectile actually strikes the target. This early detonation throws a pressure wave again the door's exterior, forcing the door inward. Shrapnel produced by the detonation remains primarily outside the door. Thus, the modified projectile is able to blow open a door without throwing a significant amount of shrapnel into a building's interior.
