Latch apparatus and method

A latch assembly having at least one control element having a first path of motion in which a ratchet is moved to an unlatched position and a second path of motion in which the ratchet is not so moved, the path of motion taken by the control element dependent upon whether an engagement element is engaged with the control element or disengaged therefrom. Preferably, the control element moves the ratchet by contact with a pawl which itself can be engaged with the ratchet. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the control element can be partially or fully actuated through its second path of motion while still being engagable with its engagement element. If already partially or fully actuated through its second path of motion, the engagement element is preferably movable into contact with the control element and can move the control element to its first path of motion. The latch assembly can have a second control element also having first and second paths of motion determined at least partially upon whether an engagement element is engaged with the second control element or disengaged therefrom. The second control element can be connected to the first engagement element to move the first engagement element into and out of engagement with the first control element when the second control element is actuated in its engaged state.

The invention relates to a door handle (10) for a vehicle door of a motor vehicle, with a removable cover element (11), in particular for covering a lock cylinder (101), wherein the lock cylinder (101) is provided for unlocking and locking a door lock, and wherein the cover element (11) can be transferred between at least two positions (I, II), specifically a covered position (I), in which in particular the lock cylinder (101) is covered by the cover element (11) so as to be inaccessible from the outside, and an open position (II), in which in particular the cylinder lock (101) is uncovered by the cover element (11), and a tension means (12) for actuating the door lock, wherein the tension means (12) can be mechanically operatively connected with the cover element (11) in the open position (II) of the cover element (11), so as to actuate the door lock by pulling on the cover element (11). It is also possible to initially detach the tension means from the cover element, for example by undoing a corresponding connection between the tension means and cover element, such as a form- and/or force fitting connection, clip and/or clamp connection, bayonet connection or the like, and then initiate the opening process directly on the tension means. To this end, the invention proposes that a triggering device (14) be provided for the cover element (11), so as to automatically transfer the cover element (11) into the open position (II), in particular in an emergency situation.

The invention provides an electric luggage compartment door. The electric luggage compartment door is provided with a frame and a compartment door body; bearing seats are fixed to the parts, close tothe compartment door body, of the upper parts of the left side and the right side of the frame; the two bearing seats support a rotating shaft; curved swinging arms are fixed to the two ends of the rotating shaft; the ends of the swinging arms are movably connected with the middle part of the back of the compartment door body; each of the left side and the right side of the top of the frame is movably connected with a compartment door body electric strut and a first gas spring; the compartment door body electric struts and first gas springs have the identical inclination degrees and are parallel; the end of the compartment door body electric strut and the end of the first gas spring which are on each side are movably connected with the top surface of the upper part of the corresponding swinging arm; the middle parts of the left side and the right side of the frame are movably connected with second gas springs; the ends of the second gas springs are movably connected with the side surfaces of the upper parts of the corresponding swinging arms; at least one door lock is arranged on each of the left side and the right side of the compartment door body; and door lock tensioning mechanisms are arranged on the left side and the right side of the frame. The electric luggage compartment door is simple in structure and convenient to mount, the space usage rate of a luggage compartment is increased substantially, it is guaranteed that the compartment door body is normally opened and closed, and the electric luggage compartment door has the good opening-closing performance.
