Image quality assessment including comparison of overlapped margins

Image quality is assessed for a digital image that is a composite of tiles or other image segments, especially focus accuracy for a microscopic pathology sample. An algorithm or combination of algorithms correlated to image quality is applied to pixel data at margins where adjacent image segments overlap and thus contain the same content in separately acquired images. The margins may be edges merged to join the image segments smoothly into a composite image, and typically occur on four sides of the image segments. The two versions of the same image content at each margin are processed by the quality algorithm, producing two assessment values. A sign and difference value are compared with other image segments, including by subsets selected for the orientation of the margins on sides on the image segments. The differences are mapped to displays. Selection criteria determine segments to be re-acquired.

Obfuscation of sensitive human-perceptual output

The present invention includes a system and method for defending against unwanted observations of the information conveyed by electronic devices. The system allows users to access sensitive information in public without the fear of visual or other observational leaks. The present invention intercepts sensitive data elements before they are conveyed to a user and replaces the sensitive data with non-sensitive information referred to as aliases. In addition, the system provides a means of computing with sensitive data in a non-observable way. All of this is accomplished while maintaining full functionality and legacy compatibility across applications.

Method for growing and distributing live food

The present invention is a method for growing and distributing living food crops to an intended recipient prior to harvesting that includes the utilization of a production unit to grow the food crops and a transportation cart to efficiently deliver the production units. This method prevents critical losses of nutritional content resulting from extended periods of non-consumption subsequent to harvesting. Additionally, the foods created and distributed by this method have increased aesthetic appeal to the consumer and enhanced natural taste. The novel method includes planting and growing the desired food crops in production units, transporting the production units to an intended recipient once the crop reaches a predetermined ripeness, and mounting the production units at a recipient desired location. The food crops remain in the production units until ready for use, purchase, or consumption, at which point the food crops are harvested.

Sprag clutch cassette driver

A sprag one-way clutch (OWC) used within a cassette driver of the rear hub assembly of a bicycle. The new cassette driver delivers improved performance the reduction of rotation of the crank arm required before engagement within the cassette driver when the cyclist applies force to the pedals. Additionally, the sprag clutch smooth engagement minimizes friction loss during free-wheeling, therefore increasing drivetrain efficiency. These enhancements provide both safety and performance benefits by giving the cyclist greater control in moving between pedaling and free-wheeling. The current cassette driver design utilizes a sprag OWC for engagement without any modifications to current bicycle designs. A sprag cage may be used to provide a framework to support and properly position the sprags.
