324 results about "Force vector" patented technology

Force As A Vector. Vectors are the physical quantities with both direction and magnitude. Force, as we know, has both direction and magnitude. Hence, we can represent force as a vector. Force vectors can be added or subtracted to discover the resultant force action on an object to change its state of uniform motion or its state of rest.

Implants or systems of implants apply a selected force vector or a selected combination of force vectors within or across the left atrium, which allow mitral valve leaflets to better coapt. The implants or systems of implants make possible rapid deployment, facile endovascular delivery, and full intra-atrial retrievability. The implants or systems of implants also make use of strong fluoroscopic landmarks.

Medical apparatus system having optical fiber load sensing capability

Apparatus is provided for diagnosing or treating an organ or vessel, wherein a device having at least two optical fiber sensors disposed in a distal extremity thereof is coupled to processing logic programmed to compute a multi-dimensional force vector responsive to detected changes in the optical characteristics of the optical fiber sensors arising from deflection of the distal extremity resulting from contact with the tissue of the wall of the organ or vessel. The force vector may be used to facilitate manipulation of the catheter either directly or automatically using a robotic system.

Annuloplasty Device Having Shape-Adjusting Tension Filaments

A system for treating mitral valve regurgitation includes a tensioning device having a flexible annuloplasty ring, a plurality of anchoring members and a tensioning filament attached to the flexible ring. One embodiment of the invention includes a method for attaching a flexible annuloplasty ring to the annulus of a mitral valve, and adjusting the lengths of segments of the tension filament attached to the flexible ring in order to exert force vectors on the annulus, thereby reshaping the mitral valve annulus so that the anterior and posterior leaflets of the mitral valve close completely during ventricular contraction.

Health monitoring method for cable system in cable structure

The invention relates to a health monitoring method used for a cable system in a cable structure which carries out a plurality of mechanical calculations based on the mechanical calculation benchmark model of a structure; the calculation times are equal to the quantities of the cables. In each calculation, one cable is supposed to have unit damage; the result for each calculation forms vector for calculating a current cable force; a cable force change vector is obtained by using the vector for calculating the current cable force to subtract an initial cable force vector; all the cable force change vectors form a cable force change identity matrix. The noninferior solution of the current damage vector of the cable can be fast calculated by utilizing proper arithmetic such as multi-target optimizing arithmetic according to the approximating linear relation of the current cable force vector (formed by all the current cable forces that are actually detected), the cable force change identity matrix, a unit damage scalar and the current cable damage vector (formed by all the current damage quantities), thus being capable of more accurately confirming the position and the damage degree of the damaged cable.

Haptic interface system for collision detection and applications therefore

A method and system are provided for controlling the simulated interfacing of a controlled first body, for example a tool, with a second body while providing haptic feedback to a user on such interfacing. Selected representations of the first and second bodies are stored in a memory of a processing apparatus and are used by such apparatus to control simulated movement of the first body relative to the second body in response to a user controlled haptic interface device. Collisions between the first and second body are detected, including the position on each body of each collision, the direction of the collision and the force of the collision, and this information is converted for each collision into a force vector on the first body which is fed back as a corresponding force vector to the interface device, and thus to the user. A feature of the invention is storing a point cloud representation of at least one of the bodies, which point cloud representation is utilized in the simulations. The representations may also be an implicit equation representation, a binary space tree partition representation or the like. A niceness factor may also be utilized in determining force feedback as may a guide zone around at least a portion of one of the bodies which, for example, may be utilized to provide a snap-fit. Other features are also provided.
