The invention relates to a method, apparatus and system for configuring control channels in a mobile communication network and a mobile station. In order to suggest another improved scheme for configuring control channels, in particular control channels related to the transmission of user data the invention suggests aligning the size of the control channel information of different formats to an equal number of coded control channel information bits and / or modulation symbols for each control channel. The control channels may comprise scheduling related control information. According to another aspect of the invention, a more flexible solution is proposed that may allow for taking different geometries of mobile stations within a cell into account. Similar to the aspect above, the size of the control channel information is aligned by means of modulation and / or coding, however the control channel information is aligned to one out of a set of numbers of coded control channel information bits and / or modulation symbols for each control channel.

Failover mechanisms in RDMA operations

In remote direct memory access transfers in a multinode data processing system in which the nodes communicate with one another through communication adapters coupled to a switch or network, failures in the nodes or in the communication adapters can produce the phenomenon known as trickle traffic, which is data that has been received from the switch or from the network that is stale but which may have all the signatures of a valid packet data. The present invention addresses the trickle traffic problem in two situations: node failure and adapter failure. In the node failure situation randomly generated keys are used to reestablish connections to the adapter while providing a mechanism for the recognition of stale packets. In the adapter failure situation, a round robin context allocation approach is used with adapter state contexts being provided with state information which helps to identify stale packets. In another approach to handling the adapter failure situation counts are assigned which provide an adapter failure number to the node which will not match a corresponding number in a context field in the adapter, thus enabling the identification of stale packets.

Control channel signaling in a multiple access wireless communication system

A novel and useful method and system for control channel signaling for use in multiple access wireless communication systems. The control message portion of the frame is divided into two portions: a first portion for transmitting a list of u-ID information and a second portion for transmitting all other remaining control information. All user identification information (u-ID information) is placed at the beginning of the control portion of a frame, typically in one or two symbols sent in the earliest part of the frame. The remaining control information (i.e. resource allocation and decoding information) is sent in the second portion of the control message. Users that do not have a resource assignment in a frame can skip the remainder of the frame, including the rest of the control message and data, and shutdown their receivers thus reducing power consumption. Only those UEs served in the current frame need to continue reception and decoding of the remainder of the control message and subsequent data.

System and method for achieving accelerated throughput

Systems and methods for transporting data between two endpoints over an encoded channel are disclosed. Data transmission units (data units) from the source network are received at an encoding component logically located between the endpoints. These first data units are subdivided into second data units and are transmitted to the destination network over the transport network. Also transmitted are encoded or extra second data units that allow the original first data units to be recreated even if some of the second data units are lost. These encoded second data units may be merely copies of the second data units transmitted, parity second data units, or second data units which have been encoded using erasure correcting coding. At the receiving endpoint, the second data units are received and are used to recreate the original first data units.

Packet-level erasure protection coding in aggregated packet transmissions

In a first aspect, an aggregated packet (A-MPDU) includes packets (MPDUs) and EC-Blocks (Error Correction Blocks) containing error correction coding information. A transmitter uses a Fountain coding scheme (for example, Raptor or RaptorQ) to generate the error correction coding information from the MPDUs. If a receiver detects an error in a received MPDU, then the receiver uses the error correction coding information from the EC-Blocks to correct the error. In a second novel aspect, a determination is made as to whether a change in error rate is more likely due to collisions or to a low SNR. If the determination is that the change is due to collisions then the MCS index is adjusted to restore a target error rate, whereas if the determination is that the change is due to a low SNR then the number of EC-Blocks per A-MPDU is adjusted to restore the target error rate.
