Door handle equipped with an automatic retractable flap

The invention relates to an external door handle for the side door, rear door or boot of a motor vehicle, said door handle being fitted with a flap (1) that retracts automatically when the handle is used. The flap is fitted with a sensor (5) which detects the presence of a hand opposite said flap. When the flap is not in use, it is closed in such a way as to be perfectly flush with the external surface (2) of the door and it is held in position by a spring recall system. An actuation device, which is controlled by a computer, is designed to retract the flap at the appropriate moment in order to provide access to the door opening control (8). Said flap system can be connected to an electric-or mechanical-type-opening control. The inventive handle affords the advantage of being very practical to use and having a value-enhancing style and appearance.

Outer door handle, especially for vehicles

An outer door handle for vehicles has a stationary housing in the vehicle door. The handle has a handle arm and acts on a lock arranged within the door. A pivotable latching member serves as a mass latching mechanism and makes the handle actuatable in a release position. Because of its inertia in a crash situation, the latching member reaches an active support position and blocks the handle. The pivot bearing for the latching member is located on the stationary housing. The movable handle arm has a shoulder. A counter shoulder is provided on the latching member. The folding movement path of the shoulder on the handle arm is intersected by the pivot movement path of the counter shoulder. In a crash situation the shoulder comes to rest against the counter shoulder. In the release position, the shoulder passes the counter shoulder upon handle actuation.

Door hold open and controlled release mechanism

A door hold open and controlled release mechanism is designed for usage in a doorway system having an inner door, an outer door and a door closer. It includes a catch mechanism and a catch release mechanism. The catch mechanism holds the outer door, typically a screen door or storm door, in an open position against the closing tendency of the door closer. Movement of the inner door to an open position then toward a closed position triggers the catch release mechanism which allows the outer door to close under the urging of the door closer.

Automatic door bottom and sill assemblage

InactiveUS20060283087A1Easily trimmed to lengthSills/thresholdSealing arrangementsEngineeringMechanical engineering
A door sill and a sealing mechanism engage one another analogously to a rack and pinion in order to automatically create a weather-resistant closure at the gap between an inswinging exterior door bottom and the floor below. The sealing mechanism, which fastens to the door bottom, contains a door-wide rotating shaft with an arm extension tipped with a flexible seal. On the underside of the shaft extension is a short “pinion” component with elongated teeth that engage in corresponding recesses in the sill, raising and lowering the seal in the process. The pinion is positioned on the far lock side of the door, so that the teeth engage and the seal begins to drop only when the door is nearly closed. As the door opens and the seal rises, a magnet further retracts the shaft extension and retains it until the door is again closed.

Outside vehicle door handle

InactiveUS6880870B2Eliminate Structural DistortionVehicle locksConstruction fastening devicesEngineeringExternal doorway
A handle assembly includes a pull handle that defines a pivot socket. A pivot bracket is rigidly mountable to a vehicle door outer panel and includes a pivot at least partially positioned within the pivot socket such that the pull handle is pivotable between a first position and a second position. The pivot is outside a vehicle door cavity, thereby eliminating the chassis preassembled inside the door cavity and eliminating gooseneck pivot attachments found in prior art pull-bar type handle assemblies.

Tent and its components

InactiveUS20060021643A1Prevent and at least reduce frozen condensation and frostReduce weightTents/canopiesExtreme weatherWeather resistance
A tent having one or more features including a condensation barrier, removable insulated floor, reinforced portions, retractable vestibule, vent elements and vent cowling, insulated walls, and split outer vent is disclosed. The condensation barrier restricts frozen condensation to only a small portion of the tent. The removable insulated floor is efficiently installed in the tent to provide added comfort and safety for the occupants. The reinforced portions facilitate assembly of the tent poles from the inside of the tent and provide an efficient means of installing the removable insulated floor. The retractable vestibule may be extended to provide added shelter and retracted in extreme weather to protect the tent from damage. The vent elements facilitate the circulation of air through the tent and reduce stress on the tent seams during higher winds. The insulated walls provide added warmth in extremely cold climates without compromising the weather resistance of the tent. The split outer door vent provides ventilation without adding significant additional weight or complexity to the tent or allowing precipitation to enter the tent.
