1194 results about "Response system" patented technology

The response system is what makes the yo-yo return to the player's hand or 'wake up'. When you throw the yo-yo, the grip of the response system on the string is what transmits the force from the string to the yo-yo body to start the yo-yo spinning as it falls.

Visual interactive response system and method translated from interactive voice response for telephone utility

A system, method, and computer readable medium storing a software program for translating a script for an interactive voice response system to a script for a visual interactive response system. The visual interactive response system executes the translated visual-based script when a user using a display telephone calls the visual interactive response system. The visual interactive response system then transmits a visual menu to the display telephone to allow the user to select a desired response, which is subsequently sent back to the visual interactive response system for processing. The voice-based script may be defined in voice extensible markup language and the visual-based script may be defined in wireless markup language, hypertext markup language, or handheld device markup language. The translation system and program includes a parser for extracting command structures from the voice-based script, a visual-based structure generator for generating corresponding command structure for the visual-based script, a text prompt combiner for incorporating text translated from voice prompts into command structure generated by the structure generator, an automatic speech recognition routine for automatically converting voice prompts into translated text, and an editor for editing said visual-based script.

Method and apparatus for an intruder detection reporting and response system

A method and apparatus is disclosed for improving the security of computer networks by providing a means operating passively on the network for detecting, reporting and responding to intruders. The system is comprised of a plurality of intruder sensor client computers and associated event correlation engines. Resident in the memory of the client computer and operating in the background is a Tactical Internet Device Protection (TIDP) component consisting of a passive intruder detector and a security Management Information Base (MIB). The passive intruder detector component of the TIDP passively monitors operations performed on the client computer and emits a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) trap to an event correlation engine when it identifies a suspected intruder. The event correlation engine, through the use of a behavior model loaded in its memory, determines whether the user's activities are innocent or those of a perspective intruder. When the event correlation engine is unable to classify a user based on a single trap message, it can request historical information from the security MIB, a database of the operating history of the client computer including a chronology of the illegal operations performed on the client. Once the event correlation engine determines that an intruder is located at an associated client workstation, it generates a status message and transmits the message to all of its subscribers, informing them of the presence and location of a suspected intruder.

Method and apparatus for automatic notification and response

A disclosed notification and response system enables applications to communicate with recipients using a number of different media. The notification and response system (i) sends requests to one or more recipients, using the medium specified by each individual recipient; (ii) collects and processes responses; and (iii) forwards the responses to their final destination by means of the medium specified by the final destination. Applications frame requests in at least one supported human language and media format, and the request is delivered to the appropriate recipient(s), according to their preferences. Communication flow expressions specify the recipients for a given request, and how, when and where each recipient shall receive the request. Requests are dynamically updated, and the parameters of a communication flow expression are not evaluated, until the request is delivered. Communication flow rules specify recipient's communication preferences and tailor communication flows to characteristics of the sender, the topic or scheduling constraints. Communication flow expressions are evaluated using a three-valued logic: notification failure (maybe), response failure (false) and response success (true). Primitives specify simultaneous or sequential contact, and when execution of the sub-expression should terminate by defining a logical combination of success test results.

Method and Apparatus for Delivering Consumer Entertainment Services Accessed Over an Ip Network

The present invention provides IP-centric, multi-channel, time-shifted and real-time telecommunications services to a plurality of system users. The system can capture both digital and analog multi-channel feeds and, through a cross-connect layer, can convert the signals to a digital format and subsequently send them to an encoder to be compressed. The encoding process can use a firmware upgradeable software developed to decrease data bitrates while retaining quality of the information at a desired level. The encoded, compressed signals may either be stored on a data-on-demand server for later viewing services, such as television / video-on-demand or audio-on-demand, or may be streamed directly to system users using a Media Streaming Subsystem (MSS). The MSS can be responsive to a system user request and operative to forward a selected stream of compressed digital data to the system user via a gateway means. The system can include a System Controller that can provide management and control of the system components and services provided by the system. The gateway means is able to receive compressed digital data from the Media Streaming Subsystem and transmit that data to a system user sending a request over a communication network. A cable modem, DSL modem or other appropriate interface can be located at each system user's location, thereby providing a means for sending multiple signal sources to a system user's Local Area Network (LAN) to which the User Computing Device(s) (UCD) of a system user are connected. The UCD receives the compressed data from the gateway means, subsequently decodes this compressed data and presents this decompressed information to the system user via a presentation system which may or may not be integrated into the UCD, thereby providing the requested entertainment services to the system user.
