The invention discloses a self-resetting hollow pier. A cap beam and a foundation are located at the two ends of a hollow column, an upper protection plate is installed at the lower end of the cap beam, a lower protection plate is installed at the upper end of the foundation, an upper energy consumption sleeve and a lower energy consumption sleeve are installed at the two ends of the hollow columnrespectively, an upper fixing piece is installed on the periphery of the upper energy consumption sleeve, and a lower fixing piece is installed on the periphery of the lower energy consumption sleeve, the post-tensioned prestressing tendons are positioned in the hollow columns, and two ends of each post-tensioned prestressing tendon extend into the cap beam and the foundation respectively and arefixed; the invention further discloses a self-resetting hollow pier construction method. The construction method comprises the steps of prefabricating the cap beam provided with the upper protectionplate, and reserving ducts; reserving a duct in the foundation, positioning the lower protection plate, pouring concrete, and placing the hollow column on the lower protection plate; placing the cap beam on the hollow column, wherein the upper protection plate contacts with the hollow column; mounting and fixing post-tensioned prestressed tendons; and installing the upper energy consumption sleeveand the lower energy consumption sleeve at the two ends of the hollow column respectively. According to the self-resetting hollow pier and the construction method thereof, the energy dissipation sleeves are easy to replace, the maintenance cost is reduced, and the post-earthquake recovery capacity is improved.
