An improved safety railing for use with an opening in a rooftop or other location. The safety railing is easily securable to the curb, or upstanding wall, surrounding the opening. The securing mechanism of the safety railing also takes advantage of any outwardly protruding lip on the curb of the opening. The safety railing features a base portion that is reversibly securable to the curb portion of the opening and a railing portion that rises above the base portion. The base portion includes a pair of side members that are shaped and sized to abut the upstanding portion of the curb. Each of the curb members also present a surface to underlie the lip of the curb and engage it if the base portion is lifted. The base portion also includes two base members that interconnect the two side members. The base members are preferably formed of round hollow stock and have threaded nuts welded to each axial end. Threaded bolts are used to affix the side members to the base members. Further, the base portion of the device provides a somewhat flexible joint and pretensioning mechanism that preclude significant bending of the base members after significant use.

A firewall damper fitting for data transmission lines having a damper body and a vertically sliding cover plate. The cover plate and the damper body having protruding lip portions which allow removable access to data lines while providing an effective damper which retards heat and fire through a sleeve without damaging the data transmission lines.

An acetabular component for a hip replacement system comprises an acetabular shell, and a liner having a seal for insertion into the acetabular shell. In the preferred embodiment, the shell has a smooth tapered surface in its peripheral inner surface, and the liner has several annular ridges protruding from its outer surface. Upon insertion of the liner into the shell, the annular ridges of the liner come into sealing engagement with the smooth tapered surface of the shell. This sealing engagement substantially prevents a migration of debris along an interface of the liner with the shell. The liner is provided with several peripheral tabs for interference fit with several peripheral notches in the shell. An interlock comprising another liner ridge and a shell groove, provide a positive engagement to hold the liner in the shell as it bottoms therein. In an alternative embodiment, each notch is provided with protruding lips which project into the notch and firmly grasp one of the tabs of the liner upon insertion of the liner into the shell. In this manner, micromotion between the liner and the shell is substantially inhibited.

A damping ring is provided for isolating vibration between a fixing member and a structure. The damping ring includes a body and a protruding lip formed on the body. The body is installed on the structure and has a through hole opened along the central axis of the body, and the through hole is provided for the fixing member to be inserted therein. The protruding lip is formed on the edges of a opening of the through hole and surrounds the opening, and the protruding lip extends outwardly along the central axis of the body, and extends inwardly along the radial direction, so as to contact with the fixing member, such that a gap is formed between the fixing member and the body instead of directly contacting the fixing member with the body, thus vibration transmitted between the fixing member and the structure is cushioned and isolated.

A lamp support of the present invention comprises a keel as the main body, two arc-shaped extensions provided on two sides of the keel, inwardly protruding lips correspondingly provided on bottom edges of the arc-shaped extensions, and first and second slots provided on the ridge of the keel and arranged perpendicular to each other. A fan includes a motor, two frames, an impeller and a housing assembly. The two frames are coupled with an outer periphery of the motor and are engaged with each other by way of fastening. Each of the two frames includes one groove. The impeller is connected to the motor and is driven to rotate by the motor. The housing assembly houses the impeller and includes first and second housing parts. The first and second housing parts are engaged with each other by way of fastening. A protruding lip is provided on one of two end faces of the first housing part which is relatively adjacent to the motor. The invention provides a tablet computer carrying case with retractable latch, comprising a frame member and a base member. Wherein the frame member is used for retaining a tablet computer and a base member is coupled to the frame member. The frame member includes a recess with a protruding lip to receive a first edge of the tablet computer as it is inserted into the carrying case, and a retractable latching mechanism to secure a second, opposite edge of the tablet computer. A mounting adapter for mounting a computer or monitor to a stand is provided. The mounting adapter includes a first plate and a second plate. The first plate has an inner surface, an outer surface and a plurality of mounting holes disposed about a periphery. The second plate includes an inner surface, an outer surface, an upper panel, a lower panel and a plurality of mounting holes disposed about a periphery of the upper panel and the lower panel. At least one of the inner surface of the first plate and the lower panel includes a protruding lip in the shape of a circle. The protruding lip is sized to snuggly fit against an inner rim of a computer stand hole. Bolts fit through aligned mounting holes and secure the first plate and the second plate together, sandwiching the computer stand in between.
