Bottle stopper

A stopper for an opening of a container such as a thermos. The stopper includes a pushbutton, a fluid flow channel extending between an inlet and an outlet, and a movable plug portion positioned adjacent the inlet. A biasing member biases the plug portion into sealing engagement with the inlet thereby preventing the contents of the container from flowing into the channel. A cam follower is disposed upon a cam surface opposing the biasing member. The cam follower is rotatable by the pushbutton relative to the cam surface from a closed position to an open position and when so rotated, exerts a biasing force on the cam surface sufficient to overcome the biasing force exerted by the biasing member on the plug portion and space the plug portion from the inlet allowing the contents of the container to flow into the channel and out the outlet.

Headspace sealing and displacement method for removal of vacuum pressure

A container (1) is intended for filling with a hot liquid (21). The container (1) has a neck finish (2) with an opening closed off by a primary seal (4) which has an expandable side wall (4a). As the liquid (21) cools, the side wall (4a) is drawn into the container (1) to remove vacuum pressure created within the container (1). A permanent cap (25) can provide a secondary seal for the container and define a secondary headspace (24b) between the primary and secondary seals (4) (25). In other embodiments the seal (4) can be replaced by a mechanically movable seal which may be locked in its downward position. Also the secondary seal can be provided with a port or aperture to provide access into the secondary headspace for a commodity. Also a commodity such as a tablet or pill may be provided within the secondary headspace

Volumetric displacement dispenser

A volumetric displacement dispenser and method of using the dispenser is disclosed for dispensing liquid contents from an interior of a bottle with a bottle neck while preventing air from filling a void created within the interior of the bottle caused by the liquid contents being poured out of the bottle by gravity. The dispenser includes a stopper having first and second boreholes extending there through, the stopper being adapted to form an air-tight seal when it is seated into the bottle neck. An air pressure tube routed through the first of the boreholes has a first end open to atmospheric air and a second end open to the interior of the bottle. An expandable volumetric displacement balloon is attached to the second end of the air pressure tube and a one-way liquid valve is disposed in the outlet of the liquid flow channel in the stopper.

Sealing cover

A sealing cover includes a base, a lower lid, and a soft, deformable gasket mounted between outer peripheries of the base and the lower lid. An upper lid includes a positioning hole having an inner periphery with higher and lower positioning grooves, with a lower positioning groove located between two adjacent higher positioning grooves. A positioning ring includes upper and lower positioning protrusions. The upper lid can be pressed and moved downward relative to the lower lid, so that the pressing member presses against the upper positioning protrusions of the positioning ring, causing rotational movement of the positioning ring through an angle and changing the spacing between the base and the lid. When the upper lid is released, the upper positioning protrusions are engaged in higher positioning grooves or the lower positioning grooves so that the sealing cover is in a sealing state or an unsealing state.

A bottle stopper mainly includes a body, a plug and a jacket. The body has an expansion spread by the plug and outwardly confronting with the jacket. The plug comprises two necks for two different engagements alternatively engaged with the body to provide a locking means and a resealing means for bottle neck. The body is structurally retained between the plug and the jacket being assembled as a unit to form the bottle stopper. When the bottle stopper is initially inserted into a bottle neck and pressed to position at the first engagement, the locking means provides a maximum expansion to lock around the bottle neck. And it has an appearance and a function of indicating whether the bottle neck has previously opened or the stopper has been used. When the bottle stopper is pressed downward positioning at the second engagement, the resealing means provides a slightly expansion for allowing to initially release and reseal the bottle neck.

Expansion Seal, Especially for Gases

A flange connection for connecting e.g. two sections of a tube or pipe comprises two flanges and a sealing ring inserted into an annular sealing space defined by radial faces and axially extending peripheral walls between the flanges. The sealing ring has an annular main body and an outer periphery with a cross-sectional shape that has legs extending outwardly from the main body. These legs, in a condition prior to application of sealing pressure, are inclined away from each other and have rounded outer ends that abut both the radial faces and the peripheral walls defining the annular sealing space. The legs, in a condition where the flanges are forced against each other, are axially compressed and upset at least in a radial direction by plastic flow of material on the outer ends in sealing engagement with the axially extending peripheral walls. Preferably, the sealing ring is formed with an annular shoulder that extends radially outwardly from an outer peripheral area of the main body and that is centrally located between the legs.

Bottle lid

InactiveUS20060016778A1Prevented from inadvertently detachingCapsClosure using stoppersEngineeringBottle cap
A bottle lid provides a fluid tight seal that holds liquid contents in a bottle within the bottle, while preventing unwanted entry of another liquid or a gas, such as air, into the bottle, and in te case of a carbonated liquid in the bottle, maintains the carbonation while preventing the build up of internal overpressure in the bottle. The bottle lid includes a cap, and a lever actuated operating member, placed in the mouth of the bottle, with having a sealing element on the operating member. Actuation of the lever causes an elastic deformation of the sealing element, which expands radially outwardly against the inner wall of the bottle to provide the fluid-tight seal.

Synthetic closures having improved physical properties

The synthetic closures disclosed herein are made from novel compositions that comprise a thermoplastic elastomer, polypropylene, a foaming agent, and a plurality of gas-encapsulating thermoplastic microspheres. Without necessarily prescribing to any scientific theory, it is believed that the gas-encapsulating thermoplastic microspheres in combination with the other ingredients provide a feed material especially useful for manufacturing synthetic closures having an appropriate combination of physical properties like, for example, density, oxygen permeability, hardness, extraction or removal force, compression percent recovery (over selected periods of time), and compression force (to compress closure to a smaller diameter).

Closures

A closure for the open mouth of an airtight container. The closure has a resiliently flexible diaphragm which has a peripheral edge (37) which can sealing engage against an inside wall surface of the open mouth. The diaphragm (13) is engaged with the second cover section (12) of a cover. A pair of toggles (24) are pivotally mounted on axles (22) of second cover section (12). The levers (30) of the toggles (24) extend through an opening (44) in the first or outer cover section (11) when the first and second cover sections (11,12) are snap-locked together. By moving the levers (30) toward one another the respective feet (27) of the toggle (24) engage with area (35) of the diaphragm (13) to deform the diaphragm and thereby break a sealing effect between the peripheral edge of the diaphragm and the inside wall surface of the open mouth.
